I have the 2 inch lumberjack log tenoning system and need a bit for the holes. This kind of works. The hole size is correct. The length of the bit is more of the challenge. For the system I have, I really need something about an inch longer.Now that said, I am not sure how easy it would be to control this bit freehand if it were longer. It likes to walk around a little bit until the hole is deep enough to direct the bit. It also has a little bit of a habit of wandering in the hole. This isn't really an issure for what I am doing but I could see it being a problem with hard woods.

well made, sticky sharp, cuts are exact. It will last a long time in my wood shop.

Replacement on order, I'm not one for giving a bad review before giving a fair chance for the seller to make good on the merchandise. Received the 50mm Forstner bit in seemingly good condition. First use was a pretty big disappointment. Bit bogged out with very little pressure, suspected it might have been the hardwood I was attempting to cut into (pear). Not a really hard hardwood but, I gave the benefit of doubt and tried it on pine, still same bogging down and wouldn't cut more than a mm down. The more pressure put on the bit, the worse it bogged down and burned the wood until it stopped turning altogether. I will edit and update after the replacement has been received and tested.******* update*******Got the replacement the next day. This one is what I expected out of a Forstner bit. Cut through hardwood with much better performance. I changed the 1 star to 4 for much better performance and fast turn around replacement. I couldn’t give 5 due to the dud that was shipped out originally.

The media could not be loaded.  So far there's nothing not to like about this forstner but. Sharp right out of the minimalist package. I make small Salt Cellar boxes for kitchen cooking and needed a new bit to drill flat bottom holes. I drilled several smooth straight holes into a flattened juniper branch when I decided that others need to see this thing in action. Sorry about the noise in the video. This bit smoothly cut the wood creating nice large thin chips that easily flew out of the bore hole. This is the by far the finest forstner bit over one inch that I have ever used. I don't know about longevity since I just got it and drilled only a few holes. But if it lasts enough to make 10 boxes it will have paid for itself and I'll just buy another and another and another. This is an excellent tool for my work, which is now a lot easier and time saving. That's worth money to me. I cannot recommend this strongly enough. In fact, I'm confident enough to buy another larger one shortly. The video should convince you.

I’ve used this a few times and it does the job but in a hand drill you really have to put a lot of pressure on it to get it to cut. I’m sure with a drill press it would be way easier.

Warning! This bit does NOT produce a clean hole. The forstner end of the bit is not centered on the shaft so when attempting to bore into the wood, the bit wants to wander side-to-side. I know the bit was inexpensive but if it doesn't produce a decent hole then it's not worth it. I will have to purchase a better quality forstner bit the next time.
