DO NOT buy this product. It is of very poor quality, and after only 6 weeks the surface started to peel off, and whe I asked how to return it for a refund, I was told by the retailer that it was my fault. It seems it is only like a piece of emery paper stuck on to a steel rod.I will certainly not be purchasing anything from this retailer at any time.

What can I say about this steel apart from do not buy it. As someone who has spent 4 years in the butchery trade In previous employment and used steels all that time this is without doubt the worst steel I have come across.This steel arrived yesterday and I finally got round to using it this morning for the first time. I sharpened 4 knives. 2 kitchen knives, a carver and a pairing knife. All with mediocre results.The body of the steel is aluminum tubing and the handle plastic. There is no weight to it. After the first knife I started to notice what looked like plastic shavings dropping off the steels body. I continued and finished with the pairing knife. These where all reasonable quality knives that where dull and not blunt. The results are best shown in the photos. My advice. Pay a bit more for a solid Steel body steel with a wooden handle For years of home sharpening. Needless to say it’s being returned.

Like at least One other reviewer this is not fit for purpose. I'm a professional chef and was recommended by a colleague to get an oval shape steel with diamond coating. I've used it for four Sunday carveries and the diamond coating has already comet off on one side. Luckily I spotter it before it damaged any of my professional and expensive knives. Look for one of the branded ones, more 3xpensive but will save you money in the long run.

Seems to work well. You can feel the knife drag over the diamonds and when you wipe the knife there is a lot of steel dust on the cloth. I have a varied collection of mid price knives (kitchen devil, sabatier and Ikea) and they sharpened up quickly (my last steel had gone blunt after 25 years!). I would recommend this as a good solution for both sharpening and maintaining an edge.

Arrived on time and in good condition. I used it on a couple of different edges and it really surprised me with what I got from it. I used it on a machete, a large kitch knife, smaller kitch knifes and two different axes. I believe it can quickly give you a good edge on a lot of different blade edges. It has certainly given me a restart on blades that I have had problems with before. Found something smaller to go camping with! Good Kit.
