Ordered this to change structs on my 2002 Jetta TDI. You will not get the struts in the strut tower without this tool. and its a life saver. Use this tool, you can push the strut towers in by hand with very little effort. Without it, you will have to sand the paint off the strut tower, grease the bottom of the strut that is going into the tower, and beat the hell out of it with a hammer, which will screw up the post. This thing is a gift from god.

This tool will replace my home made device to remove the front struts on my 2010 VW Jetta (drivers side spring was broken). The roads up here in northern Missouri are not good. The reason I checked the struts is I bottomed out on one of our letter roads! My home made device worked kinda OK. I'll update my review once I use this tool.

I used to use a 1/4" ratchet head to take care of this job - a trick a fellow mechanic had taught me.Now getting the lower mount to slip the bottom of the front struts is a breeze.This works on some of the older Hondas with their early double wishbone suspension struts too!

I cannot compare how well this particular spreader works when compared to others of similar type as this is the only spindle spreader tool I've ever used, but I can say that it works well and opens the cup enough that the struts on my southern car (no corrosion) fell out effortlessly. It's priced competitively as well, and I think it might be the least expensive one out there.

I cannot stress how important this little tool is. I and a buddy watched video after video after video of how to remove the struts from my 2010 VW Passat. We've seen hammering, hitting, and even one guy who used his jack to remove the struts from the car. There is no telling how long and much more complicated this job would've been without this tool. The strut came right out of there, and the new one went in with so much ease. My only complaint is that after the job was done, I noticed it was a bit loose. Not much, but enough.

This strut spreader worked exactly as advertised and was perfect for removing the struts on a VW Passat. Tool appears to be of the highest quality, and no wear was noticed on the spreader tip after use.

Perfect tool for spreading those pesky VW knuckles to remove the strut. Sure you can use a 1/4 ratchet but those tend to damage the knuckle.
