I don't believe they are made of brass.

These are pretty flimsy. I used them for the same purpose and they very easily bent and twisted. If I were you I'd get a better grade. I'm assuming you mean to pin "shoulder strap retainers" to the inside of your garments.

I doubt it. They are steel but they are coated with brass. Maybe an acid would do it but I'm not sure which one.
