Caveat emptor! like another reviewer, I too was looking for something that could double as a baton (it came up under a search for an expandable baton--which is an matter for Amazon). I was completely disappointed with what arrived at my door. I cannot imagine how a security guard would carry or deploy this item as a baton. By the way, pay attention to the length. I am 6'2" (or was in my prime) and this is too long for me (unless I was standing on a stone in the middle of a stream). Clearly it is only a wading stick that will not double satisfactorily as a baton or a walking stick.
