Alvin is a very good high quality product

I like it because it’s made of metal body. However, what’s disappointing is that the logo started fading after just a week. It also fits well with the 502 sharper.

Artist Gabrielle Brickley on Skillshare recommended a number of products and items that she uses with her figure drawings. I decided that I liked her art so much that I would buy the same materials. I haven't used this pencil yet but it came highly recommended and I had a hard time finding it at other places. It came on-time and in great shape. Looks like it will work well. I have to teach myself how to use a mechanical pencil because I tend to break the lead, but this will be a perfect tool for my art.

Alvin metal shaft ProMatic is an excellent lead clutch. The Tech DA plastic barrel… not so much. Spend the extra couple of bucks and go metal or don’t go at all.

Despite the other reviews, some of which were written some many years ago, I do not find that the lead slips with this holder at all. It feels quite grippy and sturdy, and fits the staedtler 502 lead pointer. Very satisfied with my purchase!

I really like this lead holder! All metal, nice weight and balance. The only slight gripe is the lead selector is rather useless. It can freely rotate so it won't stay where you set it. If it was designed to click into place and stay there it would be nice. Someone missed out on a design opportunity.
