Strong Enough to be a Dumbbell Delivery Truck...
This is a toy I bought to start working on a multi-action functional play sequence with my son, who has some developmental delays. That's going to be a longer process that he's currently not feeling like he cares about, but what I am appreciating about this is that the truck bed is metal and sturdier. Because my little guy also doesn't care about trying to work on upper body strength the way his occupational therapist has currently asked us to do, but we're totally still trying I promise :), and even with the most powerful of his ABA reinforcers, he will only move a laundry basket with stuff in it a maximum of 8 inches. He's strong enough to pull it across the room. So, as I was watching him line up my dumbbells the other day on the floor, I had this idea to try a DIR Floortime approach to start working on similar strength concepts in a way he might find more motivating. So I've been loading dumbbells up into this, rolling the truck to him, he unloads one and pushes it back to me, I push it back, and so forth until he unloads them all and puts them in his line up. I let him keep his line for a bit, then I load up dumbbells, lather, rinse, repeat so to speak. And he likes that one enough not a single reinforcer required. So from my perspective, these seem sturdy enough, despite the plastic components underneath the metal truck bed. Despite the use of weights, my son isn't probably going to be the type to give himself a ride on one of these, or play super rough with it, because car and truck play in general isn't as motivating to him as being chased, so if you have a kiddo that wants to sit on these and scoot across the floor, maybe the plastic part would be a problem. Or if he/she is into pounding on these types of things with hard tools, or if it's going to be left outside where the sun could damage the plastic... Otherwise, I don't see any reason to be concerned about the plastic, and I love that the metal bed makes it tough enough to send some dumbbells across the room without showing signs of stress to the toy.

Little boys and their trucks. This is a perfect, long lasting toy
When it comes to toys from today, the main difference from when I was a kid, is durability. I grew up in the '80s when many toys (especially toy cars, trains, planes, etc.) were made from metal and not plastic. These days everything seems to be not only plastic but breakable plastic. Whether or not that is because it's cheaper to make or that you'll eventually break it and want to replace it, I don't know. But it's a fact.Tonka makes toys as they've always made toys. Durable. Very, very durable. These trucks can be used inside/outside. My son brings them in and out of the house and onto the patio when the weather is nice. He continuously rams them into things and fills the thing with pea gravel and dirt and sand. They don't even seem to need to be washed off much. They've been left outside in the rain and still don't seem to look any different. The wheels function fluidly, and the lift mechanism hasn't wavered. These may be more expensive than a lot of other toy trucks, but there's a reason for that. You won't have to replace them.

Tonka tuff but not exactly like the original.
I really liked the durable build on this trucks body itself. As far as the rest of the parts on the truck it wasn’t exactly like the classic styles like I remember my brothers had in the late 70’s. The wheels and other parts on the truck seem to be very cheap and flimsy. I wanted to have my grandsons to enjoy the fun and imagination of playing with a good old classic tonka truck that would withstand hard play by 4 young grandsons of mine. They had been currently playing with some old original Tonka trucks that belonged to their father and uncle from around 22 years earlier. Those Tonka trucks had been through every tough boy test a boy could give them in play and was still in tackt. Only reason they had to be replaced was after more than 20 years of play on them by lots of little boys they were starting to rust really badly and becoming dangerous with some broken sharp edges. So I’m hoping the 4 new Tonka trucks and other Tonka equipment will stand up to their name as tough built. I can assure you my grandsons are definitely giving the Tonka products I got them for Christmas long hours of play for now. Just hope that these hold up like the original.

Sturdy built toy for kid's you won't be disappointed
Bought this for my little boy for outside in his sand box and he loves it. Every kid needs a tonka toy for there sand box and this worked great. I liked how it is similar to the original ones including most of the toy is made out of metal so it will last along time versus plastic ones that will shatter in less then a year out side. The only down side is the bucket is hard to tip back to dump I tried moving it back and forth a lot hoping it would free it up a little but it hasn't, but other then that it is a great buy and is getting a lot of use and will for a while.

My son loves this dump truck!!!!
This thing is much bigger then it looks in the pictures. Not super huge but a decent size. I got my son 4 other tonka products from this company and this one is by far his favorite toy out of the bunch! I appreciate how tough these toys are considering my son is a crazy busy 4 year old whom we lovingly refer to as the toy killer! I would suggest these for anyone boy, girl doesnt matter these toys are worth the money and your kids will love them plus they last forever!!!!

Sturdy childhood toy
I highly recommend this truck for little boys or girls who love playing in the dirt. My children had one when they were younger and continue to use it to this day at the beach. It lasts much longer than many toys on the market and will provide years of fun. When they were little they would push it and run behind it. As they grew a used it for elaborate playing in the dirt and sand.

Heavy Duty Dump Truck, Every Boy Should Have One
Nice toy, it has survived outside in the mud and dirt so far. Looks built to take a beating but far from indestructible. I would suggest this to be kept as an outside toy due to the fact that it is metal. It WILL scratch and ding and dent your walls, furniture, cabinets, and appliances. Haha, it definitely has some mass to it. Decent value considering the price of children’s toys now. I figure my 2 yo will get a few years out of it before he loses interest. $25 was the purchase price.
