I havent tried, but I imagine it could be lit with a magnesium fire starter. They light super easily!

Q: better in the bag or airtight contaier? had mine for a year and it dried out a bit but just wondering,

I have had mine in a cardboard box in the garage for over 5 years and they work as good today as when I first got them.
