Lovely series on the natural world for very young children.
My two year old granddaughter loves all the books in this series, particularly this one about birds. The illustrations are beautifully done, very accurate, and the text is simple and clear. A great way to introduce children to the natural world and help them appreciate the creatures in it.

Wonderful book
This was a gift for an advanced 2yr old that is super curious about birds. I glanced thru it and someone will need to read this to them until they are a little older. Pictures are very vibrant, but wish they included more backyard types of birds. Even so, this was worth every bit I paid for it.

Beautiful illustrations and age-appropriate facts
I bought this book for my 17 month old son as he has developed quite an interest in birds recently. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful and contain images of a variety of birds (i.e. backyard birds, penguins, bald eagles, etc.). Each page contains a short, single-sentence, age-appropriate fact. My son doesn’t always have the attention span for us to actually read the text on each page but he loves looking at the birds and going back to his favorite pages. I knocked off a star only because the board board quality isn’t as great as board books we’ve purchased from other publishers. Within a week, the corners of the front and back covers were already bent, but that, more than anything, may be more of an indication of how well-loved this book has already become in our household. It seems that the same illustrations in the board book were previously published in a paperback book geared for slightly older children by the same author and illustrator. That paperback book is also available in a bilingual (English/Spanish) version which we would love in our family, but chose the board book version over paperback for durability.

Perfect for toddlers and preschool
I'm a preschool teacher using a nature-based curriculum, and I bought this book for my class. Now I'm getting a copy for each of the other classes at my center. The illustrations are just beautiful (and not cartoon-y, which I prefer for the books in my science center) and the bird facts are written at exactly the right level for young children. There is enough information to spark a conversation with older children, but not so much that it's overwhelming for younger ones. I love that there's a variety of real birds, including several that kids might see in their daily lives. This is my favorite bird book and it seems to be the kids' favorite as well.
