its good but very expensive not worth the price

Very basic introduction to the subject and perhaps a bit too simplistic as another reviewer has indicated. I guess this book is aimed at the complete beginner with zero knowledge of the subject (after all that's what it says on the cover) and as a text it is fine for that purpose, but (and it's a big but) zero knowledge beginners will require illustrations of hardware and audio examples of the various sound effects or at least a pointer of where to find and sample them. That said, I guess the book also represents quite good value at £5.56p. But, disappointingly, when I accepted the invitation to register on the author's website nothing came back to me.I appreciate that this is a tricky subject and it is very difficult to strike a balance between being too simplistic and drowning the reader in a swamp of jargon, arcane technicalities and every rock band that ever lived's 'how to get that sound,' as well as the author's pet preferences of course. However, I did in the end get far more useful information and enjoyable reading from Dave Hunter's Tone Manual.

Some useful comments and guidance re how to use amplifiers and fx pedals but nothing really new that could not be found in many other guides or instruction manuals. The offer of a free book is useless because they will not download

just very basic information that you can find on line. And no illustrations. No help for me in choosing the right amp. There are so many available...and this book does not go into the brands and their differences.

C'est un bon livre pour expliquer les termes utilisés mais destiné à un néophyte. Je cherchais plutôt des informations sur l'arrangement des pédales d'effets (ordre,trucs à éviter etc...).

I like to review the simple stuff every now and then, this book helped.
