Very impressed
First off, I'm a cook in a very busy kitchen, and my knives are my most essential tool. I bought a bunch of cheap Amazon knives to see if any of them could ensure our kitchen without having to spend as much as our Victorino knives we were using. This knife holds an edge longer than our Victorino knives do, and are easily honed back to razor sharp ins seconds after cutting potatoes so that cutting a tomato is like butter. So far the longest serving knife has made is 6 months of daily use, washing in a dishwasher, and general kitchen abuse, and it still hasn't needed a grinding, a Honig. Is just fine.I have now bought 5 of these knives and will buy more as we need them, as the price makes them easy to replace.

Perfect Knife Set for an Avid Home Cook
I've had these knives for about a year now and I have to say, they've held up exceptionally well and I've gotten great use out of them. There are virtually no signs of wear and I always get complimented on the design of the block as well- looks very minimal and clean sitting on a kitchen counter! Great knives for daily home cooking. Super sturdy and easy to handle! I highly recommend these!

Decent Cheap Knife
In a nutshell, this is a decent knife that I enjoy using, and it's worth picking up on sale, but don't expect a high quality blade, or expect this knife to be some sort of hidden gem of a value. The size and heft makes this a better paring knife than a cheap Victorinox paring knife, but I'd argue the quality of the steel is no better - and maybe a little worse. If you're looking for a cheap knife that you can abuse in the kitchen and don't want to worry about, this is a good pick when it's on sale (less so at retail pricing). The knife is comfortable in the hand, but as others have noted, the fit and finish of the handle isn't great. You can easily feel the ridges between the "pakkawood" handle and the tang of the blade and with the rivits, but after a little use and some washing, the wood seems to have expanded and the fit and finish has improved - which is an odd observation, since "pakkawood" is an artificial composite and not real wood at all! I expected a composite to be less susceptible to moisture.Regarding the blade, don't be fooled by the marketing of "High Quality German Steel". If you're expecting a blade that's comparable to a Wustof or a Henckels, this isn't even close. The blade is a soft stainless steel whose mirror finish is easily marred and scratched by a scotchbrite scouring pad. If you're honing the blade with a sharpening steel, expect a significant burr to quickly form on the blade. If you're familiar with sharpening (and de-burring) a blade with a honing steel, or with a soapstone or waterstone, this is no big deal, but it is a little annoying. On the plus side, the soft stainless steel makes it easy to quickly hone the blade. The downside is that the soft steel also means that the blade dulls very quickly - especially if you use a hard cutting surface, like glass or plastic. I use a synthetic rubber cutting board, and the blade has held up well on it.The "Wallop" branding on the blade is done with some sort of cheap printing process, which produces a raised (ink?) logo and branding on the blade. You'll notice the rough texture will catch on your sponge or scouring pad every time you hand wash your knives. It's not acid etched or heat branded to produce a smooth finish like you would find on a higher quality knife. It's another sign of a cheaply made blade and I suspect it's the same knife (with different branding) as other cheap chinese knives sold here on Amazon.Despite my criticisms, I would still buy this knife again as a cheap knife that I don't mind abusing in the kitchen. Just don't expect anything special. 3 Stars.

Wow. Just wow.
Those were my first words when I opened the box. Sure, I'm a big fan of the Damascus pattern and little details like the mosaic pin in the handle. I wasn't sure what to expect. I don't have a ton of 'quality' knives, outside of some Henckels Five Star to compare to. After my first uses, I have to say I'm impressed with the Wallop. From the sharpness of the blade to the fit and finish to the packaging to the sheer HEFT of the VG10 steel. For starters, it comes double boxed. Triple if you include the Amazon shipping box. Open the brown logo'd box and you find a nice presentation box with a cardboard sleeve around it. Open that up, and there's a little thank you card, a velvety layer of foam showing off the handle (and the pin), followed by another velvety layer of foam over the blade, which is inside a plastic/vinyl bag with a little tip protector on the end. The packaging makes a fine impression all on its own!But then you pick it up and feel it. The Damascus pattern offers a very slight texture to the side of the blades. The handle is solid, and has some girth to it. If you have small hands, this may not be a great knife for you. I have big mitts, so it's a great fit for me.Yes, it will effortlessly slice paper, almost under its own weight, without assistance. A pointless test, but yes, I had to do it anyway. The real joy was when I started meal prep. Hard pepperoni ... effortless. Dicing onions? You can shave them paper thin ... effortless. The weight of the knife DOES mean you can put very little effort into your cuts. I did forget to pull the little PLU sticker off a bell pepper before dicing it up for soup. It was diced with the pepper before I noticed. My old knives would have let me know it was there. Now, I don't know the quality of the VG10 steel. I don't know how it will hold that razor edge over time. But I DO know that right now it's the best edge I have in my kitchen, and if it holds up to time as well as my Five Star Santoku has ... I'll be ordering more Wallop knives in the future! First impressions are AMAZING!One last thing. I wasn't ready for the WEIGHT of this knife. It is NOT a light knife. It hits my scale at 339 grams (a full 3/4lb!) - compared to my Henckels Five Star at 160g. Literally over twice the weight I'm used to! If you manage to drop it, the best thing you can do is jump backwards QUICKLY, or your toes are done for.
