Very good product for pullers and hyper excited dogs
Very good product, my Great Dane used to pull a lot and had to used my strength to control him. After using this there is no pressure on hands even he try to pull it is not possible.

Great way to keep your dog pulling you.
The description says it all. Gentle Lead Collar. When this is properly adjusted to your dog. It is safe, and gentle for your dog. All it does as your dog is at the end of the leash and pulling so hard that they are coughing and choking as well as almost ripping your arm out of socket. The leash is clipped under their nose/snout and it will turn their head right or left in a downward position if the dog is pulling. It makes them slow down, releasing the tension on the leash and the collar, then they can readjust their head once their is no more tension for a natural walking gate. It's not a comfortable or a natural position for a dog with their nose and head pointed downward with tension on their nose holding the head down while walking. But it doesn't hurt or harm them. Do not confuse this with a muzzle to keep a dog from biting. As i said if adjusted properly for your dog it is a good traing tool. The dog is supposed to be able to breate, pant, eat, drink, and bark without restriction. I used this for for about eight months to a year on my 85lbs Rotty-Dobby mix without any issue and brought it along if i needed it when we were in crowds or unfamiliar places . Just as an added saftey guard if he would have deceided to try and bolt suddenly after someone or something. The quality of the material was good, the fit was good and adjustable as my Odie grew from a puppy to a teenager. It can also be used as a regular collar without putting the nose piece on your dog.

GAME CHANGER!
OK let me start off by saying this is long but worth the read if you are on the fence about buying a gentle leader. I have used gentle leaders for 20 plus years and they have NEVER failed me! It is just beyond my comprehension why anybody would not try one if you have a dog that pulls and refuses to walk calmly/properly beside you or that is highly reactive and lunges at people or other animals! I have literally used one of these on a 200 LBS dog before that was so out of control with the owner it was just downright deadly serious/dangerous waiting for something to happen out in public....and been able to have them under control and walking calmly beside me inside of 5 minutes! This thing is so simple in design and how it works it is beyond some people's grasp I think. It is designed to work like a halter on a horse, it applies pressure on certain points ONLY when the dog is not walking properly. If you can control the head of a 2,000 pound horse, you can control the horse. It is that simple.I will let you know that sometimes no matter what you do when you put this on your dog for the first time, they may throw a fit and it should be done inside in a wide open space (garage or basement...) just in case they break away from you. You should not react when they do this. Simply stand still and hold tightly to the leash, they will eventually stop. It is VITAL when they stop at this point that you release the pressure by relaxing the leash immediately, it makes no diff if they sit or just stand still as long as you release the pressure! This is their reward! They quickly learn if they relax, there is no pressure applied. Do not speak to them or try to give them any commands during this time as they will not be in right frame of mind to be listening. Allow them the time they need to figure things out on their own, and they will. Do not praise them when they finally stop fighting the gentle leader, again just let them be!Also, do not allow them to get their head down and their front feet up to their muzzle! They will pull it off their nose. If they try to do this I will pull up on the gentle leader hard enough to get their head back up away from their feet. Make sure you have adjusted the nose loop properly. They should still be able to open their mouth enough to pant, drink and eat. This is NOT a muzzle!Once they sit quietly for a couple of min it is time to try walking. Make it easy for them, pat your leg or say heel or let's walk softly... you get the drift, and walk in a circle to the left with them on your left side. After a few steps or turns around the circle stop...give them time to see what they are going to do. If they throw a fit again just stand still and hold fast. If by lucky chance they stop and stand beside you quietly great, now pull up straight above their head GENTLY and wait for them to sit. Most dogs will do so automatically at this point, as soon as they sit release the pressure but do not talk to them yet or pet them. The reason for this is you are in a good calm place at this point, and you want to keep it going, if you pet them or talk to them they will get all excited and you will lose the calm focused state they are now in. If however they are not paying attention and continue walking I find sticking my left foot out in front of them to push them back at the same time as you pull gently back on the gentle leader and making a noise gruffly works wonders. I also do not use the dogs name when reprimanding.Keep the first few training sessions short like 10 min and always try to end on a good note. After a few days of good behavior indoors, then try taking them outside. A fenced in yard is a good place just in case they break free. Be prepared for them to throw a fit again, it's almost a 100% given they will LOL. Remember to stand still, hold fast, do not speak, just give them time to get done testing it and you out and let them stop on their own. Remember to release the pressure as soon as they stop! Repeat what you did indoors, make sure you have control before going outside the fenced area. You will very quickly be on your way to enjoyable walks with your best furry friend! But do not get lazy, be ready if you come upon something the dog was reactive to in the past. Be ready to go back to the basics! Have faith, this will work! It is also a good idea to use the gentle leader with teaching your dog to do down stay. Again if you can get them to do this and RELAX it goes a long way with breaking reactive behaviors to other dogs, bikes, squirrels, cats....I have never had a gentle leader break on me, but to be on the safe side I have a double hook system rigged on mine so I have a snap hook on the gentle leader ring and another snapped to my dogs collar or harness as a safety thing. It is adjusted so pressure is applied to the gentle leader first then the collar/harness depending on how I move my hand and it can even be equal pressure if I want him to spin around me.Many trainers do not like to use gentle leaders. I do not understand why. Old habits die hard maybe? Get into a new age of training. If more pups were started out on a gentle leader they would never develop many of the bad habits they do using a collar or harness. It is much easier to transition to a collar or harness if good habits are established from the start with the gentle leader. And as I have said I use both everyday with my big guy. My dogs are also trained to not just these physical training aids and voice commands, but also to hand signals. This is especially useful if we are in public in a space where we need to be quiet, or if I should lose my voice as happens to me several times a year due to allergies, or I get sick or we are out for dinner somewhere... so dogs I train learn early on to watch me closely in case I give them a hand signal. Have fun with your training and you will both enjoy it!My big dog is also my service dog and I have done all of his training. He must be trained to a T, it is not ok for him to have an off or bad day when we are out in public. I have also trained service dogs for other people. Trust me when I say the gentle leader works! My big guy is a full grown alpha male rottie pushing 200 LBS! The gentle leader will work on a 5 Lb chi up to the biggest of dogs with a couple of exceptions.... Some breeds that are really snubby snouted, like english bulldogs or frenchies, will have to decide on a case by case basis. Some have enough of a snout to use this and some may not.I do have some people who mistakenly think this is a muzzle. I simply explain to them what it really is and how it works. Many have said to me Huh, maybe I should try one of those for my dog. For less than $20 you can't go wrong! Oh I also do not think you should leave this on your dog to wear if you are not right with them. They will prob get the nose band off and chew it up. When my boy and I load up to go somewhere, if I do not take the nose loop off he will do it himself once he is in the SUV lol. It is not a problem with him, he never chews on anything but his nylabones and I slip it back on before he exits the vehicle. As always this my own honest review. I do not get items for free or reduced price for a good review. I depend on reviews to help me make my buying choices too. I did not need another gentle leader right now, but it never hurts to have a backup on hand. I hope this helps you if you are in need of a gentle leader or are on the fence about it. Just buy it, you will be happy you did!

Broke within 2 days (UPDATE--company replaced it)
We bought 2, one for each dog. On one of them, the clasp broke within 2 days. It's unusable. They seem very comfortable on the dogs, more so than the brand we tried first. And if the dog gets the front loop off their muzzle (which one of our puppies has figured out how to do), the 2nd loop is still secure around their neck. I'm hoping this one was just a dud, but now I'm seeing in the reviews that this problem is not uncommon. We're trying to get in touch with customer service for a replacement, but so far, no go. I'll update if we're able to get a response from them.UPDATE 9/1/2023: Couldn't get in touch with the company by phone, so my husband tried the online chat feature on their website. It worked! He submitted a photo of the broken clasp, and they sent us a replacement. I'm bumping my review up to 4 stars--still docking a star for how easily the clip broke in the first place, and concerned it might break again. But I appreciate that the company stood by their warranty.

Helpful Training
I'm a 47 year old disabled woman, training my own service dog. She's half English, half American Labrador retriever. She's incredibly intelligent and, Other than walking well, is training quickly.I saw an older lady walking 4 large dogs, with no issue at all. She stopped to tell me about this gentle leader.Suka Hates it- however... it's only because she cannot pull now. It doesn't cause any issue with her mouth or head.. her neck isn't being pulled, and, neither am I. It's Day 2, and, she willingly puts it on, though, from time to time, she still tries to paw it off. 100% Confident, I can take her Absolutely Anywhere now.Thank you So Much! Humane Dog Training is Important to me.

Works well for a 120+ dog
I got a 10 month old dane female puppy... i love this giant crack head however i needed a little help on our morning walks (i have a bad knee) so i could keep control of her and not fall or injure myself! Shes a sweet big baby dog who gets way too excited when she sees anyone who might become her new best friend ( and if she sees her lil pitbull Bf that she is a total stalker for)! This keeps her from being able to pull me and is honestly just the same as a horse halter and im here for it! I love it and am going to purchase a back up encase i loose this one!
