Decent design but feels flimsy
Starting with the good stuff:- It works- It’s adjustable in many different ways- The jaw depth is decent- It’s almost certainly the best bang for your buck under $100. I think the Dream Factory design that Rocky Mountain Leather Supply sells is much nicer, but it costs 3x as muchNow for the bad:- The desk clamp feels flimsy. I’m hesitant to really crank it down because I’m not at all confident that the clamp won’t just break- All the knobs are wood, so again, hesitant to really tighten anything down and risk stripping the knobs- The jaws aren’t quite parallel. Once you put some leather on the jaws to pad them, it’s not a huge deal, but it is noticeable and requires me to clamp more tightly than I’d like- The finishing is poor. Rough edges, some cracks in the plywood around the knobs and holes, smells like you’d expect a bargain knockoff product to smell (but the smell does dissipate)All in all, I’d recommend it if you aren’t ready to drop $100+ on a stitching clamp…but if you can afford it, I’d save for something better.

Well constructed and handy
The Stitching Pony Lacing Sewing Horse Leather Craft Tools Position Adjustable Portable Foldable looks really nice and like a lot of work went into the construction. It is all wood except for the metal rods and that keeps the weight down if you want to use this while travelling. It has a large clamp on the bottom so it will fit a wide range of bench/table widths and the whole clamp assembly can be folded up into the top. You have to loosen the jaws a bit but it is still very compact. There are two tightening knobs- one for adjusting the angle of the jaws and one for tightening the jaws themselves. It is a bit tricky tightening the jaws of the clamp together- there is a piece that is in the way of the knob so you have to keep changing your finger grip. The tip of the jaws don't come together completely flat and flush but very close. About 98%. That shouldn't be a problem unless you are working on something very thin and then you just put an extra piece of leather/cloth in there to give it more to grip on.This a nice looking and handy tool.
