South Shore Vito Tall 3-Shelf Bookcase with 2 Doors, Pure Black with Metal Knobs

Not a fan of this piece. I knew it was going to be pressed particle board material but I did not know the back of the bookshelf was going to be cardboard. Like, legit folded up cardboard. One of the two doors is came cracked as you can see in one of the pictures but by the time I got to that part of the assembly - I didn't even care. As another reviewer stated, it was quite the task to put this thing together. The doors aren't even close to flush when they close, there is a big hideous gap between them as you can see in one of the pictures which was taken at an angle, straight on it's even worse. Where the bookshelf meets the board on top of the cabinets (beside the little elephant and diamond) the trim is not flush, there is a gap there too. I wish I would've just gone to walmart or target and purchased a bookshelf there. In retrospect, even if it did not have the above mentioned issues, I wouldn't have paid but maybe $100 tops. It is heavy though, looks pretty close to advertised, and nothing really technical on assembly, I was able to put it together by myself, just took a lot of time.

This item would get a zero, if possible. Directions did not correctly guide through assembling unit. Little wood dowlings, -with no glue, NEVER mentioned. Pieces were NOT labeled. A tiny ink stamp on some, was extremely hard to find. The backing was so trashy they had an unremovable sticker put on it with a warning NOT to thow it away! It didn't even match the lower section's backing that was not flat when made, with ripple. Tacking brads were so tiny, they didn't match the backing stress. No holes were made in the backing to correctly line up to attach to the unit. Just moving unit to place intended, it almost fell apart! The backing popped off as soon as it was situated. Horrible situation to find myself in. I returned it, and got a refund with Amazon's assistance. Amazon should cut ties wuth such substandard manufacturers. Not good for customers!

So I paid for the assembly guys to come and put together a bunch of furniture I bought for my newly redone family room. This was missing all kinds of hardware and they weren't even able to finish it. I have to call tomorrow and try to get what is missing and they are going to have to come back again! VERY FRUSTRATING! The guy who was putting it together does this all the time and he said it was very poorly engineered and a piece of junk. He wanted me to return it completely. Unfortunately it was the only thing I found that met all the criteria I wanted so we are hoping to be able to get the parts right away and finish it. For what you pay for these things and then for assembly they should be made better and have better quality control.

So this is the first day I tried to put the product together... the metal is made out of such cheap material you can snap into two pieces and mine did many times... two of the boards were not drilled properly so it was impossible to assemble. The directions were poorly made and you could easily make mistakes using them and then mess up the entire piece but when you tried to take it apart and so it correctly the metal pieces easily broke or could not be removed... so my advice DO NOT BUYCompany is good at sending replacement parts which some are higher quality but it doesn’t matter... THIS is JUNK

The color and style work with my decor. But this is flimsy and made of particle board with a thin wood-grain skin and a cardboard back. One of the doors was damaged, and the manufacturer replaced it promptly, so that's a plus. But the doors don't line up well, and there is no magnet to hold them shut. I'll keep it because it's the right size, color, style, and already assembled, but I wouldn't order this again, and if I ever find a similar, higher quality one, I'll replace this.

This piece was miserable to put together. Typical cheap RTA assembly, particle board all the way but that's what I expected for the price. So many pieces and the typical cartoon strip assembly instructions. I've put a lot of these things together over the years and this was definitely one of the most challenging. That being said, once assembled it's not a bad piece, it is fairly sturdy and I don't see any real imperfections. After all, it is what it is and it fills the need for extra storage.

This is the BEST company ever!!!!! They were ready to help us ASAP. The shelves I love. Their directions are the EASIEST I have ever used. The shelves are really nice ones. I was so happy with this company I ordered all 3 shelves I needed from them. I can’t say enough good things about them. Their GREAT!!!!! A very happy customer!!!!!! Overall the product suits my needs, and looks ok. The installation instructions are a bit vague and it takes a while to put together. Most parts include at least one extra piece just in case, but the screw cover tabs ran short by 4 pieces.

Instructions are slightly hard to follow, not nearly as helpful as ikeas instructions. But this is a great shelf, it looks clean and modern.One of the panels was slightly fractured in shipping, but I was lucky that it's not noticeable once completely assembled.I dust it about once a week, it's white, and I wouldn't recommend white if you have pets or lots of dust in your living space.I would recommend using clamps and wood glue during assembly, as with all prefab furniture, this sturdies-up the build. It takes a little longer but it's worth it to ensure the furniture lasts longer.

Even though I love my shelf now that it's finally together, it does not take 1 hour to complete. Actually, between running to the hardware store a couple of time, it took 2 days to complete. The doors did not fit and the sides with coming apart. My husband glued and clamped the sides and cut to fit the doors and had to buy extra supports and extra hinges.

I made 3 of these cabinets into a low set of cupboards all fitted together to fit into a small space. they are well made and well packed.

Was quite pleased that it matches what I viewed online. Neat and nice. Consider additional support for more heavier books.

Serves its purpose, wasn't too difficult to assemble
