Ethanol defender additive makes cheapo gas mileage same as premium for premium engines
Bell Performance videos indicate that Mixigo was for regular gas products and works well enough for E-10. It's a 1929 product formulation. Ethanol defense was designed with newer gas...i.e. E-85 in mind. I conducted a little test...running regular 86-7 octane in my 2008 high compression Acura engine. I live in the Chicago air pollution area and have to put up with manipulated gasoline so I'm probably running E-15 or worse all the time I buy premium. I looked and find I can't even get straight gas unless I drive about 50-75 miles. So...I add Ethanol defense at a rate of 1 oz per 10 gallons and find I get better gas mileage using the "regular" 87? octane and Ethanol Defense mix than I get with straight premium even at 93 octane. My pitiful average 15+ mpg went to 17+ mpg avg for whole tanks in mixed local/medium distance driving. It can go down to 16.0 mpg but not much worse. I can push the regular mix to 19+ mpg avg on occasion on the road and even got to 23 MPG once on a fresh charge on the open road at 70 mpg. .Never got that high before and only got it once...at least in the Chicago area. Mostly its 17-18.If I buy non-chicago "Indiana gas"...it's way better...I got 23 mpg on unadultrated premium on the highway in December of 2014.So, in Chicago I used additive with local Shell or BP name brand premium 93 octane to get the 23 mpg for highway driving but it seems to loose its oomph and drops back to 17-18 with local driving. It happens too fast to really justify my using 93 octane with the Ethanol Defender additive. So...I changed to the cheap stuff...I don't feel too bad using low rated cheapo local gas if I have to when run this Ethanol Defense stuff in my 100,000 mile old engine.Hint...get some of those plastic 2-oz energy booster drinks, drink it, pull off the label, relabel the little container and fill it with Ethanol Defense.. The plastic in the bottle is cheap PVC and my studies show its not recommended for gasoline. I take it the PVC is a little soluble in the additive but so far so good. No leakage. The garage was starting to stink a bit from my filling and just from the original 32 oz bottles after opening. I'm careful of filling but it still is a mess. I got a little Justrite gas container to hold the whole 32 bottle. No stink now...but summer has not come. The little PVC energy booster bottle is the best little applicator bottle I've found for measuring and transporting the additive. Fill one and leave it inside the flap of the gas cover all the time. There is room in my MDX gas compartment for one. It fits the spare perfectly and won't stink up the car insides from my little bouts of retrofilling and spilling. When I fill up the car I try and buy a full 20 gallons but I can't so my mixture is always a bit rich...my tank only holds 19 gallons or so. I find the little PVC bottle fits just perfectly into the neck of the gas filler pipe when I want to put it in the tank. It will not slip down into the gas tank when I dump in the contents. The filler pipe has a little spring door in it about 2 inches down and the bottle nestles there perfectly. There is no way that little 3 inch bottle will get stuck. Its easy to insert and pull out by hand after emptying. You probably should discard the PVC bottle every few retrofills. FYI. The Ethanol defender is a good solvent. It does dissolve the finish off my black plastic food grade 2 oz measuring spoon so I don't really know how the PVC energy boost bottle fares. I'll dissect one in a while and report. If it is smooth inside..cool...if it is hazy...not so cool. One thing for sure...I'm saving 10-15 bucks a tank mostly because I use the cheapo gas.Clue...ever hear of Ethyl gasoline....well that used to be what folks called premium. It probably had ethanol in it and some additives. Now it's just advertised as premium octane 91-93. I'll just bet the base fuel on both low octane and high octane starts as the same material...and I'm guessing the ONLY difference is in the additive. So...by putting in these Bell Performance lab products...you are effectively increasing the Octane rating yourself. On premium its probably redundant. It does not make seem to make economic sense to put the additive in high octane fuel except maybe on long highway drives.Oh..I can't figure out how long the stuff lasts in your tank...most vented tanks probably lose part of the high vapor pressure component within a few days....but once the mixture is formed in a full and capped tank chances are there isn't much loss...just don't be opening the tank for a partial fill-up to say half way. I think you'll dilute and facilitate partial high vapor pressure loss from the liquid. Use your additive from the PVC bottle. I suspect venting the tank to the atmosphere by taking off the gas cap liberates the high vapor pressure fraction in the mixture to make a difference over the course of days or weeks. Dealers told my son in law that E-85 for his flex fuel vehicle should be used up within a week because it got "skunky". I'll bet that's true for E-10 and that high octane/E-15? stuff they don't talk about much.

makes things run better
Definitely improves performance and everything I put it in runs better: chainsaws, riding mowers, cars and generator. On the cars, I have seen absolutely no mpg improvement. My main reason for buying is to battle the ethanol in the gas. Everything I use it in immediately runs smoother with more power. I will definitely continue using it. Tired of cleaning and repairing fuel systems in generator and lawn equipment every year. I do wish it would have improved the mpg, but that wasn't my main purpose for buying it.

Solved the Ethanol problem and more!
My 1999 Subaru Legacy spent most of it's life in California where you cannot escape the mandated Ethanol blended fuels. One the head gaskets has damage as a result of the corrosive effects of Ethanol causing minor compression loss in one of the cylinders. This in turn causes misfires when the engine is cold or at low RPM and a loss of power. The last couple years it has been in Montana a state where you could buy Ethanol free fuel until recently due to the EPA mandated quotas for Ethanol leaving the local refineries and drivers no choice. I noticed the loss of power right away requiring me to warm the engine up or the car was going nowhere due to the power loss. I purchased Ethanol Defence to help mitigate the effects of Ethanol in my vehicle. Like most, I was afraid this was just another "snake oil" fuel treatment. From the first application I had immediate results. All I was expecting was to stop the long term damage from Ethanol, instead I got more! No more hesitation and the misfire has been practically eliminated. I can start my car and drive off right away no longer needing to warm it up first.Time will tell if fuel economy is improved. I will at least be saving fuel on no longer needing to warm the engine up for several minutes every day. At a little over a dollar per treatment(including shipping) it is cheaper than the one shot cleaning solutions sold in stores for much more that do little for restoring power lost to ethanol. I am sold on this product and will be reordering when I run out. I look forward to this becoming available in retail stores so I can save on shipping as well.

Worth the money for what it does.
Hard to rate without some scientific tests. But it seems to work well and easy to carry around in the car for using before fill ups. Car runs smooth and I might have a little mph increase..

Really works! I'm impressed and recommending it!
In Southern California, Ethanol is added to gasoline and in my older Honda I used to get build up in my EGR port and valve, causing difficult starting particularly on hot days. I read that Bell Performance mitigates the effects of Ethanol in the fuel and I tried it. When I used it with every tank full my car started and ran great. When I ran out, my car started having problems after only one or two tank fulls of gas with no Ethanol Defense.I did have my mechanic clean the build up from the EGR port and the EGR valve and then continued to use the Bell product each and every tankful. Due to the mileage on my car, cleaning the blocked passages was needed. Using the "Defense" consistently should get me 60k miles before I need to have the EGR port and valve cleaned. My car runs like brand new now. I never take the car out shopping and then wonder if it will start or not, at least due to Ethanol related problems.

it works for me
good stuff

Great product !
The claim that Ethanol Defense increases mileage is absolutely TRUE ! I have noticed a dramatic increase after about 3 or 4 tankfulls of gas treated with this product. I drive the same routes every week, so the fuller gas tank at the end of the week tells the story.

It works...............
I tried this product in my '91 Nissan 300ZX, it has new injectors but had sticking issues from little use. I took it out of Winter storage and it was running on 5 cylinders not 6 because of the sticking injector. I put this Bell product in and within 3 miles of my home it cleared the problem and the car runs perfectly smooth now. I could not believe the result. My experienced mechanic was very impressed and I have recommended it to the 600+ members of our CT Z Car Club. Trying it now in other equipment.
