I've owned this 2015...
Honestly? This is one of the best darn knifes you could buy. Now, if you put the blade in the sheath wrong it likes to cut through it. So don't do that. The steel it's made from has high density , meaning it keeps a VERY sharp edge for long periods and also has hefty weight. The rubber handle did end up ripping off in the first few years of owning it.... But honestly? Just learn how to wrap with paracord, and bam. Do it right , it fits well and holds a 50/50 balance. This is seriously and AMAZING knife for the price.

Smith and Wesson Tanto boot knife
I expected it to be bigger but the quality is good. The rubberized grip is great for comfort. The size allows it to fit anywhere, even your pocket. The knife came razor sharp out of the box. Looked dull and I was about to sharpen it, then decided to try it out. It cut "S" shapes in paper (allows you to control the cut, it's so sharp). I cut a rope like butter with it, two soft swipes and clean cut, no rips or anything.Showed it to my grandpa and said I paid $16 for it and before we even cut anything with it he asked me to buy him one lol. That was cool. The blade has small dings I can see with my naked eye from wear and tear but it is still razor sharp. I love it. I own a Kershaw Turbulence folder pocket knife and a $120 buck knife and I still love how sharp this $16 knife is.If I had one good reason to recommend it: it's razor sharp and has a quality leather shealth.

Quality knives coming from s&w latly
S&W knives have raised there quality standards... They have been using better steels and materials.. They come shaving sharp now. As apossed to a few years ago.. The S&W. SWHRT7T tanto boot knife is very sharp the grinds on the blade are uniform. finish on blade is top notch. Handle material is glass filled kraton rubber nice checkering for grip no matter the weather it not slippery or hard to hold .. Nice tactical boot knife that can handle abuse.. I like mine a lot. And price was right.. It's rivals similar knives at twice the price

Nice Tanto Knife - Recommended
This Smith & Wesson "Tanto Boot Knife" is a much higher quality knife than I expected! The blade was fairly sharp right out of the box, but a few passes over my Smith's PP1 Pocket Pal Multifunction Sharpener made it almost razor sharp. The black coating is very nice looking and non-reflective. The rubberized handle is a little thin for extended use, but the thinness does makes it more practical for in the boot carry. The sheath is functional and has a strong metal clip that holds it place very nicely. The knife is held in place by a snap strap, but it is easier to unsnap than I like.Overall, this is a very good value for a very handy knife.Recommended! I also have Smith & Wesson SWHRT9B Black HRT Boot Knife (see pictures in "Customer Images")CFH

Bad sheath
I bought this knife three months ago. From the outset I was a bit disappointed with the sheath, because although it is advertised as a boot knife, the sheath is much to large to fit comfortably or effectively in my boot. So, I clipped it inside my jeans at the waist, so it would be concealed (not the most comfortable position, but it worked alright). Then when I was putting up the knife today, I noticed that the knife's tip had poked through the sheath, which in a half decent leather sheath should never happen. My home made cardboard-and-duct tape sheaths work better. Although the knife is great, and is very affordable, the sheath is terrible, and I would recommend that you factor the price of a new sheath into the price.

Great Price for Great Brand
It's Smith and Wesson, I expected nothing less. One of the best deals I've had so I'm buying a second since they're so cheap. People are complaining about the sheaths and not sure what they're bitching about. Mine came in fine. Handle feels great, well balanced at the index finger, nice quality blade, and per usual am satisfied with my purchase. The blade is only 4 inches long and about 7 inches in full length. Neither pieces I got feel "cheap" by any means. I'd still pay 40$ for this knife if given the option because it's of better quality than any SOG, MTech, or CRKT I've bought.

Sturdy, Great Sheath, Chinese made
One side of the blade says:SWHRT7TCHINAThe other side:Smith & WessonH.R.T.Full tang, handle is some sort of rubber - has a great pattern on it that helps the grip - although the handle is pretty thin to get a great grip. The sheath is leather and is great, it looks great and holds the knife in very well. The knife (and probably the sheath) is made in China and it says China on the blade - which was disappointing as it generally does not indicate great quality in the knife world, (at least not as much as the words "USA" "Germany" "Japan" "Sweden" etc, although this may be changing.)We threw this knife at a tree pretty hard, maybe 20 times, very minor damage to the rubber handle and the blade is fine. The handle is still sturdy, overall the knife feels solid.

Great knife!!!!! Bought it twice!!!
I can't say enough good things about this knife. I had my previous one stolen and bought this one straight away. I use mine to fillet fish, skin, and general outdoor chores when my Ontario is to big.Sharpness:5/5It comes out of the box wicked sharp, no need for touch-ups!Construction:5/5The knife is perfectly balanced, good enough to be a good thrower in addition to really easy to use as a cutting tool as intended. The grip is very textured and easy to hold when wet.Sheath:4/5I wear mine on my waist, IWB, it is very comfortable to wear both concealed and unconcealed. I would prefer a bit better made retainer snap but that is a nitpick.

Top - Markenware
