RothcoVintage M-65 Field Jacket

Fantastic jacket!
Ok, so I am 6'1" - 210lbs with rather broad shoulders and ordered Medium. It fits me like a parka with a t shirt only but it looks good with a sweater. I threw it in the washing machine in hot water and after that twice in the drier at high heat to brake it in. ..... Beautiful! It shrank a bit but not much. A size S would have been a lot slicker but wouldn't allow me to wear anything under. Sleeves are the usual re****ded width as the military issued M65s...I hate them but if rolled up a bit it's not that bad.

Close to my original
Can't find these Field Jackets in Army surplus stores any more. This is the closest I could find. Rothco makes two of these jackets. This one is 100% cotton., closest to original issue. I usually buy jackets in XL because I like them to be roomy. Based on recommendations, I got the large. It fits pretty well. Washed it as soon as I received it and it didn't seem to shrink much. Partially dried in dryer then placed on a hanger to complete drying. This softened up and slightly faded the material. Made well, seems like it will last. I removed the red tag on the chest pocket by cutting the little piece on the inside of the pocket, then just pulled off from the outside. The velcro strips above the chest pockets were not on my original jacket. I plan on adding a short length of velcro to the sleeves because they do not close tightly around the wrists.

Good buy!
An excellent buy for me. The moment I took it out of the package I was convinced it was quality work, despite being made in China. I was worried, as I've never before owned an M65 of any kind, that it would be too light to use as a winter jacket without a liner (as I did not buy one, though I will no doubt in time). But the jacket weighs about 3 lbs, and is quite warm even without the liner. It will easily handle 40 degrees Fahrenheit, and even lower temps if you bulk up with an extra shirt or two underneath it.I ordered the X-Small, following the recommendations of others here to order two sizes down. I'm usually a medium, and I am of medium build, 75 kg, and 181 cm tall, and the jacket fits me perfectly. Mine, instead of the ridiculous Ultra Force velcro tag, has one that says ROTHCO. I removed it, of course, but I thought I'd mention it nonetheless. All in all, it's a very good buy. It may not be as good as the Alpha Industries one, I wouldn't know, but for half the price of the Alpha M65, the quality is definitely on par and worth the money. So if you want an M65 and don't want to pay up 150 dollars for it, Rothco makes a serviceable cheaper product. It'll work well as a work/everyday jacket and for going camping and the like.

A bit disappointed
A bit disappointed. With over a dozen M65 field jackets from different makers listed on Amazon, including my prefered Alpha, I chose the Rothco on the strength of the listing (the fuller listing available on my desktop, not on the mobile version) stating that the jacket's shell was "100% cotton", which I absolutely prefer. Was surprised and delighted to find one in cotton. It came in, I checked the description/laundring label, and it'a cotton/poly mix (55/45, I believe). Also, it's cut slightly differently from the old OG107 field jacket I relied upon in the Army. That said, the size was true, the cut is excellent, and, after washing it a couple of times to "break it in" for wear, it didn't really have that slick cotton/poly, synthetic feel. Although rather particular about fabric and feel, it's comfortable and handy...just as the field jackets I'm used to. BONUS: it had the field jacket liner in it. So, not as advertised, but still a good garment. May have to come back for an Alpha Industries M65 jacket later. A dollar or so cheaper for my size, and I've never had a bad Alpha product...and their listing outright states that their M65 is made of nylon/cotton (NYCO)...so, no surprises.

Nice jacket
This is a very nice jacket, just like the one my dad had in WW2. It does run big, but I would say just one size. I bought the XL, because that is what I normally wear. I returned it for the Large. I went by the measurements in the chart. The xl was 2 inches to big, and the L says it is 2 inches smaller. Got the Large it is also to big, so ordered the Medium. The medium has enough room for a hoodie under it but doesn't look like I am swimming in it without one.

Lightweight and Stylish
Man, the U.S. military can design some really great clothing.First thing's first to anyone thinking of getting one of these jackets. A reference. I am around 5'10" and 160lbs (slender dude). I ordered an X-SMALL and it's slightly big on me. If you are looking to buy one of these to wear around casually without any other layers underneath, order two sizes down from your norm. With that out of the way, let's speak of the quality. The Ultra Force jacket we're currently speaking of is 100% cotton which makes it sit very lightly on the body as opposed to the Deluxe versions Rothco makes that are comprised of 55% cotton and 45% polyester and come with a winter liner. I own one of the deluxe versions (at a size medium, haha, I swim in it) and they sit a bit heavier and stiff on the body. This Ultra Force Vintage M-65 is much more comfortable to wear and feels as though the material is going to make this jacket last a significantly long time. Now, for those of you worried about the removal of the "Ultra Force" patch above the right breast-pocket, removal is easy. It's just velcro and can be ripped off. The under side of the velcro can also be removed from the jacket with a seam ripper. This will get one closer to the original look of the jacket, if that is one's wont. With this jacket comes plenty of pocket space, a built-in, concealable hood and an extremely heavy-duty gold zipper. Along with all of this versatility comes a very stylish look, making the jacket all the more tempting to purchase, haha!My bottom-line:The Ultra-Force Vintage M65 field jacket is a comfortable, versatile, and stylish looking jacket just begging to be worn. When factoring in all of these qualities, the cost of the jacket doesn't seem all that bad anymore.

Over sized
I love this jacket. I got the medium should have gotten a small. I am going to try shrink it in the dryer. Canโt wait to wear it. Soon as my patches are on it. Thinking of ordering another only in a small. Still keeping my medium. Itโs a stunning jacket!!!!

Nice jacket
Classic style, well made jacket.Fits a little large if not using a liner(not included) but the built in hood and deep pockets are great.
