The beauty and history of northern UK
The devilishly charming Robson Green presents an educational program about his home county of Northumberland. Green explores natural and historical landmarks and interviews local experts making for a very interesting, informative show. Many of the guests (and the host) reflect on the culture of the northeast and share their memories. It's almost a shame this is only DVD quality instead of blu-ray because of the sweeping shots of gorgeous landscapes, starry night skies, and Robson Green posing. Please remember this is a region 2 PAL DVD that will not play in most US DVD players.

Robson Green - perfect host for a magical journey
Loved this series. I just wish they would release the subsequent ones as you can’t get them anymore. Robson Green’ narrative is witty, entertaining and informative. My father comes from Northumberland so I spent many holidays in the area as a child. Robson’s programmes reminded me of the many hidden gems of the county as well as showing me some new ones. Holidays in Northumberland for my family again!

Robson Green Tales fom Northumberland
A delightful series which provides useful information about my native Northumberland and for individuals who have never visited this scenic and historic part of Great Britain to tour what once was named the Debatable Lands, site of so much historic rivalry and conflict with the characteristic protective Peel Towers and beautiful scenery and the views and tales about sacred places like Holy Island and Saints of old like St Cuthbert and the Venerable Bede who wrote one of the first Histories of the English Speaking People. Scholars travelled from Europe to Monkwearmouth, Jarrow and Tynemouth to these ancient centres of learning.

Too much fun!
I've taken the train from London to Edinburgh many times and have always loved the scenery above Newcastle. Then I got hooked on "Vera" and "George Gently" and Kevin Whately's accent, never realizing what they held in common. Basically this American who loves to travel in Great Britain knew nothing about Northumberland and it took Robson Green to show me what was already holding my attention. I've watched this three times because I'm making plans to travel there to Northumberland. More fun than a Rick Steves' program and he's quite good. But then Robson Green is truly fun. Send him more places!

An excellently produced and presented series.
I would recommend this DVD to anyone with a love of Northumberland, and a wish to have more of an insight into what makes, and has made, this beautiful county tick. Robson Green's interviewing technique is so easy, and he palpably conveys his abiding love for all things Northumbrian. We bought a copy for ourselves, and one each for our boys to show their children what a wonderful inheritance they have, especially as they live far away from here.

Very enjoyable - and some great scenery
Very pleased I ordered this DVD. Not only is it full of interesting facts and great scenery but Robson Green presents it very well. I would recommend it if you are interested in the North East of England/Northumberland .. and even if you haven't realised you were interested - this series will probably make you want to visit the area (where there are more castles than any other part of England).
