Young adult archetype
I have been reading a lot of Greek & Roman philosophy, and I have been looking for small statues that represent masculine psychological archetypes. This statue of the Dionysus represents to me the young man, arrived in the world and ready to take it on

But is it really Dionysus?
Quite like it, but I am not sure it is Dionysus. I would like a link to a page that shows that this is the actual designation of the work from a reputable source.

From a distance they are perfect and the Chinese craftsmanship comes to mark
I purchased this together with Bacchus and the Dying Slave as it was VERY CHEAP tHE OTHER TWO WERE Vvisual aids for a lecture on Michelangelo and they are more than adequate for the job. From a distance they are perfect and the Chinese craftsmanship comes to mark. HOWEVER be warned they are not marble resin!THIS DOES APPEAR TO BE MARBLE RESIN AND THE QUALITY AND FEEL ARE A LITTLE BETTER THAN THE TWO LARGER STATUESI have several other classical statues made from marble resin which are heavy and really feel like the real thing. Once you touch and feel these, they have no more than the feel of high quality plastic which is a little disappointing. For what they are, they are very expensive!

Ok for the money (Bought at considerable discount)
As an artist I collect male nude sculptural figures. This figure, (which I believe draws for inspiration upon a bronze figure originally discovered at Pompeii) was 'ok' for the money paid (bought at a considerable discount). Unlike another Toscano figure acquired which feels like alabaster or Carrara Marble, this one however feels decidedly plastic like (although the spear is metal). It is not quite as well executed in its modelling as another Toscano figure purchased, however that could be down to personal taste.

It's not a statue of Dionysus, as the name ...
It's not a statue of Dionysus, as the name suggests, but is named on the box as "Nude Man with Staff." Regardless, it looks as it does in the photos.
