Finally, a Holster for Hiking!
Ok, so if you're like me you're looking at this pouch for one reason...concealed carry. Right? Anyone that carries has a holster for every scenario and hiking has been a bit of an issue for me. In my backpack? No quick access. IWB? yeah right, with a full back pack on and climbing, twisting, flexing? Not so much. OWB? So everyone knows you're carrying and I want my weapon rubbing against every rock I pass. There's gotta be an external pouch that works with a backpack and looks good (IOW, not a fanny pack). This little guy definitely fits the bill. I can strap it on my main waist belt of my pack and it looks and fits right in. I got the tan version so it looks non-military. Not exactly 'quick-draw' but one zipper pull and I'm ready for anything. My biggest question before ordering was 'will it fit?' For such an inexpensive pouch I decided it was worth the gamble. I currently own 2 handguns that I would consider CCW worthy. An RM380 and a Taurus PT-111 G2. The 380 fits easily with room to spare, in fact you could fit several in there. But I prefer the larger 9mm and needed something that works with it.And the verdict? I can tell you it's really tight but it works. Getting the zipper to close over the bottom of the mag is snug, and that's with a modified mag with the pinky extension filed down. It just barely fits. Getting the zipper open is actually easier than closing it. And as the bag breaks in it's stretching just a bit. With the gun in the main pocket there's still plenty of room in the other pockets for small, relatively flat items such as a thin wallet, maps, and a couple of Larabars. Cell phone and flashlight both have dedicated pockets which also work with the gun in tow.According to the Taurus website the PT-111 G2 is 6.24" long. That's from the tip of the barrel to the back of the slide. I measured mine at an angle from the tip of the barrel at the front sight to the furthest point at the bottom back of the grip and it came to 7.5 inches exactly. Keep in mind, the Taurus is a double-stack so a thinner gun might fit if it's a hair longer. And like I said, you can't go wrong for 15 bucks.

Quite versatile.
I bought these for the wife's plate carrier. I will be ordering some for myself soon. For those who don't know, a plate carrier is a sort of vest with large pockets to hold armor plates. They are designed to be worn over clothing; i.e. not concealable. Why would we wear such things? We shoot for recreation, and while we are very safe and have never had a gun accident, it's better to have an armor plate covering your vitals than not. These are also useful while hunting in case you run into some joker who shoots without knowing what's behind his target. Now, plate carriers use the MOLLE system, which means they have loops sewn onto the exterior. If you look at the back of this pouch, you will two straps. While you can use the straps on a belt, they work even better if you thread them through the loops on a MOLLE compatible item, like a plate carrier, belt or backpack. It holds them very securely. On our plate carriers, you can fit 4 of these pouches, two on each side. When you do this, you wall have two pouches on each side, roughly the height of your navel. This is very convenient. You can store a first aid kit in one, a basic survival kit in another, a multitool, flashlight, paracord spool and such in a third, and have one left over for snacks and other paraphernalia. These particular pouches are the perfect size and design for such a setup.Few things I noticed:1. You can build or buy a small first aid kit that fits neatly into one of the pouches. I would recommend an israeli bandage and a quikclot sponge to control massive bleeding. Through in some BZK wipes, a few bandaids, a couple ibuprofens and some anti sting wipes, and you will have a basic first aid kit that will cover most situations you are likely to encounter. Add or remove supplies as you see fit. Do not keep anything other than first aid supplies in this pouch.2. The pen pocket holds a mini maglite quite nicely.3. You can fit a small pair of binoculars in one of these pouches.4. These are some of the best general purpose pouches I have come across, and are very well made for the price. Yes, there are undoubtedly better ones out there, but the price/value ratio on these is hard to beat.

plastic head on zipper & zipper pull tab gave out--at 1 month with 5 total uses.
the zipper handle is plastic & tore out the "speed open hanger-on thing" still, even with having to man handle the plastic headed zipper around its track, and mostly leaving it open, it mostly achieves its use of BARELY fitting in iPhone 6S Plus (the resident care unit phone) and keeping it away from your body which you're supposed to do, but the phone & telecom folks bury it, on purpose, deep inside of your cell phone usage instructions. bag is good, zipper head & pull tab off zipper head being plastic is too cheap of materials. great for getting stuff out of pockets, think though a fanny pack / simliar real strap on bag would work better though. like an real EMT/EMS/Nursing/medical bag, this one is a good start, wish the straps for the belt use were permanent and not snapped on. if the snaps give out someday the bag is useless to me without another waistbelt / strap to keep it on my flank/sacrum area while walking around.

Empfehlenswert
