Outstanding writing and so enjoyable
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💋💋Kathryn’s writing is always mesmerising, I can totally immerse myself in her books and I’m lost to reality for hours, just as it should be.Peter de Lohr’s book is a perfect example of me reading and forgetting the world.I found him sweet and protective, honourable and a delight to meet,Liora was the same, I was stunned to learn of the differences and challenges that were put upon them because they were from different faiths but wanted to be together, things I never knew, but I had my eyes opened for me, Thankyou Kathryn. One thing I did notice, although I believe Kathryn loves all her characters in one way or another, I feel when she writes a scene with Christopher de Lohr in it her writing almost takes on a life all its own, you can feel the love for him through the way she writes, similar with a few others. I wonder if there’s anything to my feelings.A brilliant story and satisfying read, one I will always adore, especially for the father son melding and heart to heart chats between Peter and Christopher. They made the book for me.I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

Brilliant
Another superb story love the instant love with Peter and Liora. Kathryn is an amazing author mixing romance with history but again have an issue with Kathryns mention of cinnamon it would never have been used as it wasn't introduced to the UK for decades later, I will gladly do any research for her - just saying.

Excellent 👍🏻
A good blend of romance, history and intrigue with fighting thrown in for good measure. The author used a lot of wisdom from the Jewish and Christian side to make this story possible. She also, explained King John's death brilliantly.I love Kathryn le Veque's medieval romance novels and this was no exception.

They are all Here KLV Brilliant Knights
This is Peter de Lohr the eldest son of Christopher de Lohr story. I really looked forward to reading his story.Hiding from a persistent unpleasant woman who is determined to have him as a husband, he accidentally meets a Jewess woman, Liora, in the Merchant streets of London and falls in love with her. It should have been an impossibility for them to have a relationship much less marry. This is their story of surmounting the impossible to eventually be able to marry and raise a family. There is a lot packed into this story. KLV summons practically every knight from her all her novels even squeezing a mention of a young William De Wolfe! Have read all her books written in the medieval period so was delighted to see them all gathered and felt as though I was amongst old friends. Don't know how this would work as a stand alone novel because there are a LOT of knights, castles, keeps, towns, history plus numerous titles thrown into this story and it really helped to know these chaps from KLV PREVIOUS works.King John continues to be the baddie and William Marshal continues to pull powerful strings in the background and that is the prime setting of the story.Christopher De Lohr's love for his first born is full on as he continues to always be there supporting Peter even though he is his illegitimate son. Those scenes are deeply moving.KLV gives pages of explanations and insights into Judaism and at times felt it was too much - I got it, they have different faiths. I know that KLV will find a way for them to be together so no need to push it so hard.Again as I have previously noted KLV no longer writes the steamy bed scenes she wrote in her earlier novels and I recently re-read some of the earlier works and the difference is so blatantly obvious, am sure it is a deliberate point to leave all explicit bed romping out entirely! We just get a tame mention. Shame as I enjoyed knowing that the knights and ladies were just as lustful. One of my favourite knights dies in the story and I confess I got a bit tearful.Great book to add to the excellent series on the De Lohr series. Only two grammar/spelling mistakes so far! and a bit more modern slang than usual but still Highly Recommend.

Beautiful story of love overpowering all
Oh my goodness, Kathryn Le Veque just keeps getting better and better and better. The Splendid Hour is amazing.Peter is the perfect hero. He is intelligent, giving, loving, generous, a wonderful son/brother, and a man who is willing to sacrifice EVERYTHING (including his life, livelihood, and honor if needed) for the woman he loves.Liora is a truly beautiful woman; her soul, her faith, her live of family, and her willingness to sacrifice EVERYTHING (including her life and families honor) all for the man she loves. These two people are two of the best characters ever placed in print. Their love is the type of love that gives the reader hope because it transcends all else, it is full of life and desire and faith and generosity and lust and passion and a love so strong that nothing can stop it. After reading this book I felt elation and an ultimate sense of peace and calm. I cried, I cheered, I felt anger, and I felt every emotion Kathryn could wrench from a person and I can't thank her enough. There are not enough stars in the sky to rate this book, it was perfection!I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and am volunteering an honest review.

Definitely A Keeper For Me!
10 Stars!!! This one will become a fixture in my library. Peter and Liora's story reminded me so much of this author's earlier epic stories. The Splendid Hour is extraordinary! Sir Peter de Lohr is the bastard son of the Richard's Lion Claw, Christopher de Lohr. He is his beloved son no matter what. While avoiding the pursuits of a determined woman, he hides and discovers the beauty of another woman who captivates him. Liora, daughter of Hiam, is Jewish and she is polite to the knight who is in her yard hiding. She intrigues Peter and he wants to learn more about her. Unfortunately, these two will have to face extreme obstacles... Religious ones, Crown deceptions, dangerous looming battles and an ambition family who knows no limits. For this story, you will need Kleenex. If you have read this author's epic stories your heart will break for so many reasons. I highly recommend The Splendid Hour, for it is a keeper for me!

The Splendid Hour
Once again we have been treat to an incredibly enlightened story of early English history.Nothing was simple in England at this time. John was probably the most hated king that had ever sat on the throne. Peter de Lohr was A young knight, bastard son of the Earl of Hereford. He was deeply enamoured with a girl who was totally beyond him.Jews did not have a simple life in John’s kingdom. As for a Christian Knight to even look at a Jewess lass was beyond the pail. Kathryn treats us to sympathize over view of the differences between Jews andChristianityPeter is pressed into John’s service, leaving him a banged man from the things that he has done and seen However he makes it home to Ludlow in time for the birth of his child

Amazing Love Story!
What an amazing love story! Peter de Lohr hides in the kitchen yard of Liora ben Thad to escape from Lady Agnes de Quincy's pursuit of him. Liora is the most beautiful woman Peter has ever seen. As a Jewess, Liora has never seen a fully armored knight before. Peter is the illegitimate son of Christopher de Lohr and recognized as such with many privileges and connections. He is also an Executioner Knight, all of which is totally outside of Liora's understanding at first. We see so many familiar names in this story, famous knights that we have come to know and love over the years. King John plays a prominent role, and Kathryn has done her research about the Magna Carta and this time period. You won't see as many bloody battles in this story, but danger abounds, as does the political stratagem of the day, and religion of Christianity and Jews. Kathryn has done a magnificent job in giving us Peter and Liora's love story. The story will grab you on the first page and hold you until the very end. You will find yourself thinking about the story once you have finished. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars!I received an ARC from Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and elected to submit a review.
