Devoured quickly!
The piñon jays discovered it and swooped down in flocks. The other critters had to compete with these avian locusts. Realized it would be a costly ongoing frustration where we are, with the lovely semi-desert canyons of Western Colorado in our backyard. We’re going back to putting out seed for our quail population, which the jays don’t eat as much.
