I used it to do potatoes and they are so paper thin, and I also used the wave blade to make deep fried pickles and it didn't want to slice through the pickles without giving me a fit. Other things it worked great on.

the mandolin was not what I expected it was going to be to be slicer part of it is too thin I need thicker

This is the first time I've brought something that really does everything it said it does. I love it !!!!!!

So after a recent trip to the ER for some stitches I decided it was time to upgrade my mandolin. My previous slicer from the mid 80's served me well until it met its ultimate demise after I sliced off a couple of knuckles and I had to go office space on it with a bat. So the hunt was on for a new one. As I am limited on space in the kitchen I didnt want one like I had before that with all its accessories took up an entire drawer with parts that were seldom used. So I needed something more compact and functional. Ended up with this weirdly named one "FAVIA" which I only choose because the name reminded me of the movie swingers. Well Vince Vaughn didnt disappoint and Im now back to slicing and dicing (not my knuckles)!! Incoming pros/consPros:-All the accessories you could ever need and than some-Compact-Sturdy-Sharp!!!-Nice guide setup and designCons;-Sharp!!!-Doesnt compact like I thought it did into one solid unit, but still very small-I hate the color green!-Didnt make any vince vaughn movies past swingers any betterAll in all its a mandolin that does its job and does it well and provides ample protection against losing a finger/knuckle/toe/small child.

This is a step above the hand graters that are so readily available. Regretfully it is also very sharp so be very careful of your fingers. It comes with a vegetable “holder” which is fairly awkward to use but at least you don’t grate your fingers as you do on a traditional grater. I tried to make thin slices of beets and this worked very well but the vegetable holder is a pain to use as it wobbles all over the place.This comes with a variety of blades which cover a wide range of duties - thin and thick slices, grating cheese etc. The different blades are dishwashable and are easy to slip in and out of the slot in the bed. The bed is made of plastic and acts as a collector of slices etc. All the pieces fit into the dishwasher but I wonder how long this will hold up in regular usage. This is priced fairly well and would be good for occasional not daily usage.
