Gentle life advice
This is such a wonderful unaffected musing on life and how simply opening yourself up to opportunities can lead you places you'd never expect. Bob comes across as a humble, likeable, down to earth chap who truly appreciates both what he had and what he now has. He never comes across as conceited and his love for his family, friends and celeb buddies shows true warmth and affection. It's also very amusing and slightly screwy, as you would expect. It's gentle and involving and I feel like I want to know more, but am equally happy with the small glimpse into a true gents life. Brilliant.

Good Understanding of Bob
Overall not as humourus as I had hoped there were numerous funny references. An interesting style skipping back & forth from his upbringing to his more recent life with detailed memories of his health issues, and then back again. Would say an interesting read & recommend.

Very funny and interesting
My husband is loving this book. He’s laughing his way through it, just as he did with Bob Mortimer’s debut novel.

Brilliant Bob
Im probably one of many who has grown to love Bob via watching his antics with Paul Whitehouse fishing. I knew of Reeves and Mortimer but with little children at that time TV was not really on the agenda. This book has given me so much joy learning about this great and funny manand how his life has been shapedI would definitely take heed from his recommendation for pocket meat.So amazing that he chose to share his heart surgery with the nation.Thoroughly recommended

Laughter throughout
What a wonderful read. Great insight into the surreal mind of Bob Mortimer with lashing of hilarious anecdotes as well the more concerning times in his life.

I wish he didn't put himself down so much
This is a reflective look at Bob Mortimer's life and an enjoyable one at that. It isn't laugh-out-loud funny, its a nice read and one that I never found myself not wanting to pick up but it lacked something to make it amazing. The book is a non-chronological look at Bob's life covering his illness, his life before meeting Vic Reeves, fame and the fishing show. Normally I'd find the pre-fame bits boring but I actually really enjoyed reading about Bob's law career. One thing that mildly irritated me throughout the book is that Bob puts Vic on a pedestal and it is very much written as though Vic is the talent and Bob is just very lucky to be there and instead I think it would be fairer to say that they are equals. From my small amount of knowledge before reading this book I think that Bob brings his own dynamic to the duo and without him Vic Reeves would not have been as successful, they're a great duo who both bring their own strengths to their work. I'd have liked to have seen Bob not putting his input down so much. Some reviews say that a lot of the anecdotes have been covered elsewhere but I wasn't a fan of Shooting Stars and I've never seen Would I Lie To You? so all the anecdotes in the book were fresh to me. I didn't personally find it funny but I think that links back to their style of humour not being my thing, there are quite a few instances where jokes are written about in detail. It's a nice read for any fans of Bob and Vic or fans of comedy in general. I actually found it a very uplifting account of Bob's life from completely changing his career to battling his ill health.
