TramontinaChurrasco Carving Cooks Knife Set with Chopping Board

The metal haft of the of the blade where it is sandwiched between the handle of the wood is not flush with the wood but rather slightly recessed. This makes it feel quite sharp on your hand when used. I hope the photos show this shadow in the light to indicate the recess. I expect it will wear down/smooth out over time but it is a bit disappointing. I'm half tempted to take a bit of glass paper to it to smooth it down...There was also a noticeable notch in the blade on opening. Annoying but will probably sharpen out over time.

Bought this on impulse from Amazon treasure truck - I needed a carving set but this probably wasn't it. The board is OK but the knife was quite dull and I don't know how good an edge it will take. The handles are "wood effect", which I didn't realise when I ordered or perhaps I would have thought twice. I shall chalk it up to experience and try to curb my impulse buying in future.
