An insightful read
Useful for anyone. Not just carers and those they support. An uplifting book that shows the positive side of caring and the importance of the relationships between all those involved - carers, those being supported, professionals, family and ordinary people in the community. We need to get away from a victim or casualty mentality and look at the people themselves and accept that we are all different. With the right attitude and support, life could be so much better for so many people.

Important and insightful
A beautiful, important book. I can't think of anyone who shouldn't read it.Whether you're a carer yourself, a nurse who would like to know about the experiences of those who are carers or an even an employer managing people who are carers - this book is incredibly insightful about the struggles carers face and yet inspires hope. The human experience of caring for others is presented honestly, with stories of carers from around the world shared in between the authors personal reflections on her life and what she has learned through the years.Tender is a touching tribute to carers everyone and those they love and care for.

Brilliant
Cannot praise this book enough. It resonates on so many levels and whilst being honest about the hard times is at the same time cheerful and positive and makes you feel energised to keep on caring.

Hugely valuable book, both personally and professionally
This beautiful book moved me and made me think. I’m a speech and language therapist, with a couple of good friends who are carers. Since reading this I have thought a lot about ableism, therapy targets, and the expectations I may put on parents. I feel better able to support my friends who are carers. I really recommend it.

An Important read not just for carers
An amazing and courageous journey into the world of Caring. Penny intersperses her story and experiences with interviews with people who come at caring from a variety of angles. There's so much in here to learn both about the joy and despair of what can happen but also with great lessons in self-care. I loved it from start to finish.

Wow, what an amazing book
This book is so great and informative. As a carer to a young child with ASD this book has made me cry and laugh but ultimately made me feel like I’m not alone! It really gets your thoughts going with how society can sometimes view disability and caters. Would recommend!

I'm grateful for this book.
I wish I could have read this book at the start of my caring journey. It is full of insights, it's an honest account of everything you can expect to experience as a carer. I hope gate keepers read it too...
