Pegasus Epitaph: The Story Of The Legendary Rock Group Love

The Real, True Story; The Author Lived It!
Extremely well-written, honest, and at times painfully truthful account of one of the greatest rock bands to ever come out of the '60's L.A. music scene. Drummer/author Michael Stuart-Ware was right there in the thick of it for the ride. Ultimately fortunate to have survived his experience with an amazingly creative band that could have, should have, been contenders, but did at least leave us with some of the most remarkably timeless rock n' roll ever. And also this book, that lays it all out. For anyone who ever had even the slightest appreciation for the band Love, this one's a "must read." Highly recommended.

Be there now...
As stated in the book description, Love was a unique group of musicians who crafted an amazing sounds then crashed and burned as ego (one in particular) and drugs wreaked havoc. The fact that they made two fine albums, in addition to the eternal, shimmering classic Forever Changes, is a testimony to chemistry, creativity and perseverance. While history generally dictates that Love began and ended with one Arthur Lee, in Pegasus Epitaph Michael Stuart-Ware passes the spotlight around the various group members generously. The contributions and personalities of Johnny, Kenny, Snoopy and Tjay are taken into account and celebrated. His writing is clear, honest and humorous, and his recall is impressive. So many questions arise in the course of this book, most in the 'what if?' category. If the tension hadn't been so extreme and the circumstances so trying, the heights they soared to may never have been achieved. Michael makes an very astute observation that Love made music for future generations. That pretty much sums up their lasting appeal. This is a story full of warmth and humanity, written by a guy who was there, and not clouded by bitterness and regret. It makes for a fine, quick summer read and don't be surprised if you don't feel yourself transported back to Los Angeles circa 1966-67. Not a bad place to be!

Great read for any Love fans.
Well written book regarding on of the best rock bands to come out of LA. I could directly relate as I lived there during this period of time. I had both sad and humorous moments as the author paint a very detailed picture of what was going on at the time. One of the best books I have read on this subject.

LOVE story
Excellent book..all about the American West coast group LOVE. Sad story of massive success in LA but an attitude that promoting records wasn't important and the group broke up. Their massive seminal album Forever Changes was their last epic and is still popular today and compared to Pet Sounds, Revolver and Sgt Pepper for originality.

.Love, a complex band with a problem living up to their name.
A literate, well-documented book on a cult band of the 1960s. Their music has endured, despite the drug fog that caused their chaotic demise
