Not recommended.
Nothing's better than direct holding with your thumb with your clarinet's thumb rest. It's a heavy unit and you don't want to add any more weight to your clarinet. It will take a very long time to find a good placement position for your hand and eventually It won't be as good as the stock thumb rest. It will slow up your playing technique. I recommend use a neck strap over this.
