It’s not always possible to dismantle and thoroughly clean a barrel after training. Yes, it’s easy to field strip a Glock, but if you’re training on older designs, like the 1911, it is a cumbersome task and parts can be lost out in the field. This bore cleaner makes carbon removal a simple task until such time that you can do a thorough cleaning. The bore snake consists of a thick braid with copper teeth which scours stubborn carbon fouling, so that at the very least, accuracy is not completely compromised. Simply lock back the slide, feed the cord through the chamber throat and pull through the muzzle of the barrel and voila, the barrel is clean enough for storage. Bore snakes are a must for any enthusiast as maintenance is of utmost importance. Get one and you won’t be disappointed.

This will definitely be used in my cleaning arsenal as a final mop through.

The media could not be loaded. This fits a .50 BMG just fine and it’s quite handy to have for easy carry in the field. That said I’m using this mostly at home to clean and oil the barrel after firing. The .50 cal doesn’t get used as often as most rifles so this should last for some time. I like the material and the integrated bore brush which cleans without being overly abrasive.That said, there was a small snag (pic included) on this upon opening. It’s not significant enough to impact its usefulness but not something I want to see on a new product. I assume the snag is from the bore bristles, pulling on itself when in the box. So keep this in mind as you store it, I’m cautious to not wrap around itself when folding it up. Keep guns clean and oiled is a key part of owning them. While I have more complex cleaning kits, this was a quick and easy option to give my wife for cleaning her Desert Eagle .50ae. It is very easy to apply come cleaner and pull this rope back and forth through the barrel a few times to clean it up after using the firearm. I find the easier you make the task, the more likely it is to be completed. I have several of these type of bore cleaners in other calibers, so when I saw this in .50, I just couldn’t pass it up.

I've got a similar cleaning brush in other calibers. This brush works just as well. Drop the line down through the barrel. I put a touch of cleaning solvent on it and pull it through. After pulling it through the barrel a few time, I wipe off the brush, and put a few drops of oil on it. Run the oiled brush through the barrel a few times and it's clean and lubed. Very easy to use. I use this on my Barret M95 as well as my S&W 500.

These things are great, and make cleaning so much easier. I have a couple of these for different calibers, and they sure do beat the old fashioned method of running non-stop brushes and patches through the barrel. All you do is spray some cleaning solvent down the barrel, let is sit for a few minutes, then run the snake through a couple of times. Perfect for cleaning in the field.

If you've never cleaned your gun with a rope you're doing it the hard way. These things are simple, fast and efficient. Making even one pass on a dirty bore and it will pass as recently cleaned. Two or three passes and it's brand new. Pick one of these up and see for yourself. You'll just be disappointed that you didn't do it sooner!
