Q: Do these trousers have an opening fly?

No they don't. But you don't really notice. They just look like chinos. I bought these a year ago for my brother. I am buying them again for him, for Christmas.

Q: Are these pull on or a button close?

They have zip fly, button close & internal chord. Also can be worn with belt.

Q: What is 5xl waist in inches

The ones I bought were 44 inches

Q: Is there any stretch in the fabric or is it just an elastic waist TIA

Stretch is just in the waist. Plus the button is very week and keeps breaking off and have had to use the pocket buttons which have have used all of them. Will not be buying them again.
