The Happy and sad balls are 1 inch in diameter and can be used to demonstrate the difference between elastic and inelastic collisions. These have virtually the same density, mass, and appearance. When both balls are dropped at the same Height, the Happy ball will bounce approximately 50 percent higher than the sad ball, and the sad ball's bounce will degrade rapidly in Comparison to the Happy ball.
