Dorman 620-101 Engine Cooling Fan Assembly Compatible with Select Ford / Lincoln / Mercury Models

This fan is equal to the old taurus fans. Moves a lot of air.

I've used a few of these over the years, with great results on GM A bodies, F bodies, Tri fives and Corvettes. More reliable than other aftermarket brands.

I removed my OEM clutch fan in my 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck. Put this electric fan in as a replacement. It fits fine. I used some plastic through-the-radiator-slit ties at first, but will be fabricating a metal bracket to mount this fan. The plastic ties work fine, and actually keep the fan *fairly* snug up against the radiator. But the bottom of this fan shroud does NOT have holes to use the plastic ties. You can either drill holes in it yourself, build a bracket to support it, or let the bottom dangle (not recommended).It comes with a socket/plug to give it electricity from battery.I don't know what kind of plug that will plug into ... see photo to help me determine what kind of socket/jack that is.You can cut off the provided socket/jack connector and just splice the wires together if you choose. I prefer to reuse the socket if I can find a male plug for it.Three fan wires are as follows:Brown with YELLOW stripe wire ----------> high-speed setting (preferred to use this over the low speed setting wire)Brownish with ORANGE stripe wire -----> low-speed setting (not preferred, so mine's not connected to anything.. ie. I left it "dead-ended", capped off, and disconnected)Black wire ----------------------------------------> Ground (no duh, right?)I opted to only have the fan's high-speed setting turn on when my temperature probe relay detected temp at or above 180 degrees (a separate product)Caution: this fan uses some higher amps, so I wouldn't go less than a 50 amp relay and fuse (Im actually using a 60 amp). I think some have tried it with lower amp tolerance and have blown the fuse.

Just picked up this fan to do an electric fan conversion on my 2000 Dakota 4.7L to get rid of the factory fan clutch, which was obnoxiously loud and also a gas hog! This dorman fan works great and flows a TON of air. It feels well made and is relatively quiet when installed in my truck. This fan is a "puller" style and has 2 speeds, so be sure that is what's needed for your application if you're doing a retrofit like me. It's one of the most, if not THE most popular OE fan to purchase and retrofit into another vehicle. They're some of the most powerful radiator fans, CFM wise to come factory installed on a vehicle. They're known to fit many other cars/trucks with little to no modification as well. This monster covered about 80-85% of my Dakota's radiator, which is a rather large radiator, and it cools the truck down literally in a matter of seconds. I used some flex-a-lite universal brackets to mount it, heavy duty weather stripping to seal any air gaps, and tied directly into my trucks factory wiring by splicing my stock Dodge male radiator fan connector to this taurus fan. I also just used the high speed setting (brown wire w/ yellow stripe) and capped the low speed wire. All in all, I'm very pleased with my purchase and would definitely recommend it as an OE replacement or an e-fan conversion in another vehicle.

This fan rocks. I'm using this on my nova project to cool a 383 stroker. My previous elec fan would kick on and never shut off until the car was turned off. This fan on the low speed actually cycles on and off in my drive way. I used this fan with the Volvo fan relay pack, BMW 2 speed temp switch and it works great. If you don't know about this fan for your Hot Rod project, google it. The built in shroud is great and fit very well on my radiator. The low speed works so well that I've yet to see it kick on to the high speed mode. I highly recommend this fan for your hot rod project if looking to go the electric fan route.

This seems exactly like the old Taurus 2 speed fan of old. I had an old ancient one that finally just gave out. I have inserted this whole fan and shroud inside my '05 Dodge Ram Hemi's shroud with very little minor fitting, and have it hooked up to a DC Controls 2 speed relay control system. This absolutely cools a lot better than the factory fan.I just hope this Dorman product lasts a while. So far so good. If it holds up, it gets another star.

with a slight modification, some crafty wiring and HD 250a relays I have a setup that keeps the tow pig cool in this AZ heat!

3Stars because it pulled enough air to keep my truck cool with what I found out what a really crummy radiator. However the motor burned out after about 5 hours of use, because I was running it on high speed only
