Let me just say, I have purchased a total of 4 BG8000 since 2016 and they are very reliable fishing reels. With basic maintenance , never encountered any issues. I know there are lots of spinning reels out there but for me, Daiwa BG provides the best value at this price point.It’s a very durable reel, casts very well, and is smooth. I have a Shimano that costs lot more but BG is my go to reel .I remember my dad bought me a first Daiwa reel back in the 80s, and the reel lasted for almost 40 years. I replaced it with BG Daiwa and hopefully it will last for many years to come

I'm fairly new to crab snaring, couple years in. This reel is one of my newer ones and is doing the job. I can imagine an improvement in crank strength, however.So far it's smooth and carries a good excess of my braided 65 lb test line. Casting is good.Handle's a good fit for my hand, not too small or large, and comfortable grip.First season in and no issues, solid reel.

Excellent reel, used it for the first time yesterday, went fishing for triggerfish in Puerto Penasco, I fitted the reel with Berkeley trilene 40 lb test line. This is an awesome reel, very sturdy, where others reels have locked up while trying to reel in just one triggerfish (cochito)at a time, this reel allowed me at times to reel up 3 triggerfish at a time with no hesitation. And that is no easy task . I would definitely recommend this reel & give it5 stars & 2 thumbs up2nd fishing trip with my new reel . This reel is awesome . I reeled up 4 triggerfish & 2 Rock bass on a 6 hook rig at one time today. I included a picture of some of the fish I caught today.

I bought 2 of 8000 and being in AZ it was probably a little overboard but I fish from California where I use it on a 12 surf rod and target sharks and rays which so far it has handled effortlessly to Texas with 8ft boat rods for Gar and anything else that will go after big bait . I have no worries what might pick them up they can handle it . and in Az I like to drop lines with huge live bait at the dams and see how big a cat I can get . LOVE THESE REELS . At the price point not sure there is anything better .

This reel is a beast but in a good way. I can't wait to try it out well built... I purchased a custom crank for mines 😁 I feel like a kid at Xmas...
