a real great game
to be honest here... i did have fun playing the Prince of Persia Trilogy and this game as well. it was amazing because it was like a tomb based theme. i loved every bit of this game and the trilogy as well. i did not dislike one bit of this game or the trilogy but what surprised me in a good way was that ubisoft made the trilogy and this game.... ubisoft, you guys do great great great work and i LOVE all of your games including the splinter cell trilogy, all of the tom clancy's games and i love you guys and i respect you guys a lot too. i would RECOMMEND this game to everyone i know.

"SHORT, EASY BUT VERY FUN"
Short, simple and easy but definitely fun. While this game brings no real innovation to the series (or platformers in general) the game still manages to be a pure joy to play from start to finish. The platforming segments and level design is of top quality, the combat, while simplistic, is also very fun and satisfying. The only problem in the game was that it was short, it is approximately a 9 hour game, depending on how good you are at figuring out puzzles (which are amazing in this game

Not bad
I DID enjoy this game, I'd like to start off with that. But, it definitely DOES fall short in comparison to the other games. It doesn't tie in too much with the original trilogy story-wise and I believe it was made by a different production and development team because it looks and plays so very differently. It seems to be more of a movie-promotion-type release. But if you're looking for a fun climbing, fighting and puzzle game that's family friendly, you could certainly do a lot worse than this game.

Still Prince of Persia, just short and tame
Pros: Visuals and animations. The game feels more like Warrior Within in terms of structure. You have the palace, the mechanical towers, the garden, the intense platforming dungeon and back to the palace to the boss area. Even though the graphics are somewhat below average for a current gen game, there are a lot of vibrant colors and beautiful structures in many of the areas and it does not make you sick with brown on brown until right to the end (though being Prince of Persia, there is an excuse to abuse brown). The animation in this one is an improvement, especially the details. When the prince jumps to a pillar or a pole from different positions (in the middle or almost lost it) he will hold on differently, which is amusing to look at. Other details in battles are generally good and you have quite a few special combos and finishing strikes. The end game sequence is pretty awesome, mixing platforming and action.Cons: The game is SHORT. And it only gets serious/fun at about 40% into the journey. That makes the enjoyment even shorter. I started playing after dinner and at 12 I'm already finished. The new abilities and platforming gimmicks are fun but the chances to use them are very limited. Although this game feels like Warrior Within it lacks the challenge and complexity that title has. Overall it's very easy on Normal and somehow I don't see a hard mode in newgame+. If that's the case then this thing has little to no replay value. The hidden treasures is a joke. It's not even special, just exps that you can get by killing enemies anyway. Completely takes away the fun of discovery. The story is nothing special. It could be summarized in like 100 words and there's almost no development for any of the characters. Some of the Prince's sarcasm are really lame.Battle is button smashing routine. The magics are fun for the first few times and then it gets really dull.Other thoughts: in terms of difficulty, the game is a breeze until about halfway, then it gets PoPish, although still on the easy side. That said, the platforming is still much better than in Uncharted, Assassin Creed or the new Castlevania. At least it requires some thinking and alternation. There is indeed no improvement to the control. It feels much like the old PoP games with sometimes camera angle and direction problems. Later you have to hold onto multiple buttons at once and that's quite fatiguing. Also, they really tuned down the violence in this one. Despite all the waves of enemies, the only blood you see is probably at the beginning when the prince got a scratch. When you are fighting real people in the beginning, instead of beheading and ripping them apart, you finish with gentle punches and pushes. It doesn't bother me but it IS tame.

Like turning back "The Sands of Time"
My first experience with Prince of Persia was the GameGear version. Since then I have been addicted to the platforming elements of PoP games. The Sands of Time (PC version) was my first taste of the 3D changeover and boy it was addicting. Even knowing what to do was an adventure simply knowing you had to have 'perfect' execution to pull off the stunts and platforming. No other PoP game has really found that formula again but The Forgotten Sands comes the closest to date.Gameplay: It is prince of persia. If you have played any previous game then you know what to expect really. You are the dashing Prince and once again find yourself in a situation where time manipulation is required for you to save the day! This time around instead of just the ability to rewind time for the most part Ubisoft has switched it up considerably. You now can rewind time, freeze water, remember collapsed objects and even threw in some basic RPG elements. Once you get the hang of the controls through a well thought-out tutorial the game tests your puzzle solving skills. That is what PoP are all about. You are in a room, fight some bad guys and then figure out how you are going to get out of there/advance. Early on things seem simple and a PoP pro would be chuckling but once all the elements come together... be prepared. You will sweat as you have to micromanage countless buttons all at the same time, switching what you are doing in mid jump while dealing with projectiles etc. Classic prince of persia platforming!Sound/Story: The story isn't half bad. While not as powerful or strong as the original Sands of Time that captured the hearts of many old PoP fans and made a ton of new fans, the story isn't over bearing. It is there but not forced upon you at every turn. The sound is not bad and I have no complaints with the game. The voice acting is spot on and sets the tone.Graphics/Presentation: graphically the game is pretty good. It isn't ground breaking or jaw dropping but it is good enough that in 720p the game looks nice. The platforming aspects are well thought-out and get harder as you go along thus the game gets harder and continues to challenge you as you move along. However this negatively impacted replay I feel(see below)Length/Replay: While the game isn't very long (easily under 7hrs) you can lose track of time while playing. The game is fun, simple as that. It is one of those games, especially if you like platforming or puzzle solving, that will keep you scratching your head and curious what might lie around the next corner. Add hidden 'sarcophagus' items and a exp/leveling system you can definitely find some replay value in the game. The exp you spent carries over into the next game as well so you can fully unlock the Prince's potential. The downside is, once you've unlocked everything, found all those sarcophagus' etc.. there really is no reason to return to the game (unlike the original sands of time). The platforming suddenly will feel far to easy until the last moment since the game baby-steps your way along. I still got a full replay out of the gameSummary of "cons" I have for this game (with positive re-enforcement)- Baby stepping your way through makes a replay seem far to easy. Can almost blow through the game on a replay in half the time especially since you can't de-level.. thus starting at a high level and can just own anything in your path [in a way this works because if you simply want to have fun platforming the mobs you fight won't slow you down]- Not one glitch!!!(PS3 version) not a con but a definite PLUS as everyone hates a game breaking bug/glitchOverall Score: 86%A must have for any platform junkie or Prince of Persia fanatic. I was not dissapointed and can proudly say that I achieved a PLATINUM trophy for this game. While not the best Prince of Persia game I've played it certainly was one of the more enjoyable games. (bought this title when it was $30)
