Bear Valley Pemmican Concentrated Food Bar Fruit 'N Nut -- 3.75 o(pack of 3)

Not as good as I remembered it from years ago. Mostly, it's simply too sweet. Addition of more spices, perhaps cinnamon, might make it more flavorful. With proper adjustments to the recipe, these bars could be quite good as a hearty snack or meal replacement.

I have loved these for the last 30 years. A good friend introduced me to these on a backpacking trip. They store well and provide a good boost.

Love this product for the balance of protein and carbs, for the taste, for the necessary nutrition it provides while hiking and traveling (sometimes have them for breakfast instead of the continental fare at hotels). As compared to other meal-pack type food bars, the ingredients are unprocessed and more truly "natural", none of the hydrolyzed protein nonsense seen in other products. But after 40 years in business, Intermountain Trading Company in Berkeley is looking to sell the business (not sure if the property taxes got too high, or the competition to stiff). There will be many disappointed fans out there, and I am one of the most dismayed, having relied on them since the late 1980's (they got me through my Ph.D. thesis, gave me the energy for those late nights in the lab).
