puts out great heat but I have one complaint
installed this heater on our 2nd floor landing of our 1915 house to supplement the heat upstairs according to the instructions. it puts out great heat looks nice but I have 1 complaint the fan sits WAY TOO CLOSE TO THE WALL. in the pictures you can see how close it is. 2 of the pictures show a green contractors pencil as a guide. using the flat side of the pencil it won't even fit between the wall and the back of the fan housing, I fully don't expect the fan to have a long life due to the air flow restriction. except for the fan issue it's a nice heater, puts out lots of heat and overall I'm happy with it. It arrived today and I installed it today, 11/18/2024. super easy install. have a professional run your gas line if you don't have one.

Easy install and works perfectly
I was replacing an existing heater, and so I already had natural gas plumbed to the site. It took me about 1/2 hour to unpack the heater, attach the legs, and install the included AA battery for the pilot igniter. Then I discovered I was out of the yellow Teflon tape needed for gas threads. (Do NOT use the white tape for gas!) I went to the little store down the road and purchased a new roll of the yellow Teflon tape. Using this on the threads I installed the street el which came with the heater, and then installed the 3/8 compression adapter I had removed from the old heater. Then, using the metal flex tube I had removed from the old heater, I connected this heater to the gas, turned the gas back on (there is a shutoff right behind the heater), and lit the pilot. Once it was lit, I turned on the heater with the thermostat on top. The heater immediately ignited. It began to heat immediately. It is silent in operation. The heated air comes out above the glass which is in front of the flame. The flame is even and all blue. It is hard to see when the room is well lit. The heater has been operating for about two weeks now in a space that is about 600 square feet. Night temps have been in the teens. It keeps the space in the 70's. The instructions say this heater may shut off at elevations above 4500'. We live at 4200', and there has not been any issue. We already had an operating CO detector when I installed this heater. If you don't have one, install one before you install the heater.

Quality product at a good price.
This is my 2nd Mr Heater and they seem like quality products. My other heater is the 30,000 NG heater. If I had it to do over again I would have purchased the 30,000 instead of the anemic 20,000. The 20,000 is ok for a small room of let's say 300 sq ft., but if trying to go through a door opening into another room forget it. The 30,000 can be turned down pretty low and it heats a 300 sq ft room fast, but perhaps too warm for some...of course you can then just turn it to pilot. Strangely these heaters don't push the heat out front like you might think, but shoves the heat out of the lovers upward towards the ceiling. I don't have a fan so can't say about that. They are a little quirky to get started as you can't tell if the pilot is on in a bright light...so start it up with a darkened room. There is hardly any heat on the sides, back or below...just up through the lovers and it dissipates so that the ceiling doesn't get hot. No problem with Co2, but I have an airy house with mild winters on the Oregon coast. Hookup was easy and the quick release hose allows me to move the unit around...even one room to another that has a gas line. It came in a heavy box in good shape. The directions are probably overdone for the apprentice, but a technician would salivate over it.

Seems Fine But What About Blower Motor Option??
If I want to add the blower fan, the instructions state to " remove the four screws to remove the plate". Yeah, no. The plate is tack-welded inplace and cannot be removed with out really mangling the rest of the unit.

Very happy with it so far
To run the natural gas line, we had to get a professional. We live in town and have nat gas line to the house. But needed to attach to it and run the line under the house to the bedroom. My husband can do stuff but not at his age. Plus he's still working. So he called a friend who is professional HVAC commercial company and they put in the line for us. My husband got it connected and it worked right away. That's the only thing to be aware of, can you install it properly? You may need to include that expense in your calculations unless you can do it yourself. I was so anxious to have backup heat in case the power goes off during the super cold weather this week. I'm very happy with it. We put it in the master bedroom suite where we can close the door and retain the heat if necessary.

AWESOME, quick heat, nice looking, great with a fan
The blower is a must for good circulation. We love these heaters. We hate the high electric bills and the constant power outages. These heaters are efficient and effective. GREAT items. The 20,000BTU is heating more than 2 bedrooms/1 bath/and a long hallway with ease. The heater sends heat right down our hallway that warms the living room and dining room. One is located at the end of our ranch home where the last bedroom is always chilly - well no longer is that room chilly. A wonderfully comfortable heat. The thermostat is a must and the fan makes an amazing addition for spreading the heat. Easy installation, quick setup, immediate heat!! WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THESE TYPES OF HEATERS!!

Save money using natural gas for heater
I am very impressed with this heater. It is perfect for my Lake Cottage in the winter months. I purchased the natural gas version. The Money saved by not needing to use an electric heater will pay for itself in no time.
