Poor service
Our basement floods quite often. I purchased this item due to it's ability to send SMS notifications. Installation and connecting to wi-fi was simple. Then I find out that the sms is extra. This is not included in the description of the product on Amazon's website. I thought I purchased SMS service with the app but apparently not. I feel the App is very confusing. I contacted three times in English with what I thought was the info they needed. My first reply was that there are not refunds for in app purchases. The third reply from them was to ask me what language I am using. So I spent $20 on SMS service I don't receive. I do get notified of water as long as I'm at home connected to my network.

WiFi water leak detector
This device works well, small and easy to install. how ever I noticed that after an alert of flooding, the device goes to sleep mode to save battery untill next leak detected. Don't worry about the flooding alert that stays on your screen even after water is taken care of. Device will still push notification once it detects another leak.

Can be used to Alert for many things!
I needed something to alert me when the air pump in my fish room stopped working. I used an air pressure switch and this water detector to let me know when the air pressure drops and I need to do something. I got a second one that I connected to my whole house generator via a relay to let me know when my generator is running. The relay and the pressure switch are both normally open and close when the air fails or the generator is running, this closes the connection on the water sensor and it alarms. I use the Smart Life app with these sensors and while they alarm just fine, you can't edit the description so it will always say it is a flood but that is ok. I could not find any other device that does this as well for such a low price.

Simple to install
Easy set up after following included instructions. I used the Smart Life app to set up. I get immediate notification when the leads detect water. One interesting observation is this device doesn't keep a permanent WIFI connection with the router. Instead, it connects when water is detected and disconnects a couple minutes after water is removed from the sensor. Also, it seems to reconnect briefly on a daily basis even if there is no water sensed (like its checking if the WIFI network is still available). This must be how its designed to get extended battery life.So far, so good.

Underwhelming, but minimally works
2 - 3 stars. I installed on the SmartLife App. The device is pretty poorly made internally with battery wires open and unprotected. It's detection comes only from the two small probe tips at the end of the wire, no where else. It does NOT make any alert noise itself. It does function fine with the SmartLife App to send a notification to a phone. It was kind of underwhelming and minimal. A blue light blinks when it has been activated.

It works ok with its own application but doesn't play well with Alexa or SmartThings
Setup was straight forward and inside its own application it works fine. If your needs are simple this would be a decent choice. However if you are integrating with other home automation things this is not a great choice. I use both Alexa and Smart Things. You have to create a "Scene" in the app but those don't really work to automate anything other than notify you that you have a leak or that the leak has stopped.

I wish I knew about these YEARS AGO!
I love this alarm! I'm a contractor and I've now started adding them when we finish basement or add near water heaters and/ or sump pumps! It's a super cheap way to warm a homeowner if something 'watery' is happening in the basement before tens of THOUSANDS of dollars in damages happen...it's SUPER LOUD PIERCING SIREN WILL GET YOUR ATTENTION WARNING theres water 'happening' where it shouldn't be 'happening'. So finished basement or not? Get a couple of these and put them in a couple areas where water 'might happen' and rest assured you'll know before even an 1/4 of an inch of water accumulates. Super ez to put batteries in...and super ez to install that a 10 year old can do it in less than 3 minutes including battery install!
