Don't need it - UNTIL YOU DO.
Needed a cheap second monitor for my office. Found one for free but turns out it was VGA. (Didn't even think to look 🤦♀️) PC has DIV-D. Spent literally hours looking for this guy and was the ONLY one I found that would work for VGA - DVI-D. Most of the other ones were for other DVI types and wouldn't work.Despite my partner's skepticism that it would destroy the picture quality going from analog to digital, it works perfectly! For the price, this adapter is awesome. It does not feel cheaply made works as described. For the small investment of this item, I now have a second monitor that works to fit my needs. 😊

Good, but with some minor problems.
I got this because my new graphics card only has DVI and HDMI, but the HDMI is used for my second monitor and my first monitor has both DVI and VGA ports, but I only had a VGA cable on hand. That means to use my first monitor with my new graphics card, I either needed to buy a DVI cable or a adapter like this one. I chose this, because it was a dollar cheaper than the closest DVI-D cable of the length I needed. For the most part, it worked as expected. The only problem is that when my computer would boot up, the screen would flicker until in the lock screen. Although this didn't affect performance as far as I could tell, it is somewhat annoying. I borrowed a family member's DVI cable, and it did not flicker on boot, which proves that the flickering was caused by this adapter. Because of this, I would say that if there is a cable that is only a few dollars more expensive than this, it's definitely worth it to buy the cable, but otherwise this is a serviceable product. It's also possible that I just got a dud.
