I bought this for my 8yo son and it is the perfect size. The backpack portion is quite small, large enough for some emergency staples and maybe a snack. Since we got this for hiking, it works perfectly. And honestly if it were any bigger he'd be prone to bringing home every rock and stick that caught his eye so even the limited capacity is NOT a complaint. The bladder is MUCH better than I was expecting and even has a sleeve over the tube. The mouthpiece is great and doesn't leak either, and the opening to fill it is very easy to seal.

Great for running

This is a great pack for hiking! The water bladder fits perfectly in there, and is a good size. But the bite valve to get water out is poorly designed and doesn't work right. Followed all the instructions, still not good. Hard to get water out, you shouldn't have to bite like that. And then it slowly leaks, fills up the protective cap, and then water spills out when you go to use it again. Everything else is tip-top though. I've merely replaced the bladder with a spare I had and use this thing constantly.
