After replace Philips Screw with Hex Screw, I was able to tight up the clamp with the swing base. Also lubricated the ball join. It works much better now.

When I opened the box, I was really surprised by the quality of the upper part. It's made out of quality hardwood, is built well, and is just pleasant in general. However, the bottom looks like it was made out of off-the-shelf parts from Home Depot.Putting the two together was as easy, which was a good thing since it didn't come with any instructions. Something I noticed is the clamp has a rubber pad on the top part, but it's just metal on the bottom, so there is the possibility you could scratch the underside of whatever you clamp it to. When I unscrewed the side to open the jaws (?), it only opened about a half inch. I took the knob off and pulled the jaws open to about an inch, and since then when I loosen the knob, the jaws open wider.I was working on a wallet when I got this, and I will tell you, it's *really nice* to use. The swivel works well, and there's a large range of movement. The only thing I would have expected at this price point is a quick release knob to allow fast adjustment of the piece you're working on, but the side knob has a really positive grip, so it's not terrible. There are other stitching ponies out there that are better, but they're all a rip from Dreamfactory's pony, and at that price point, you might as well get the original. I'd like to give it 3 1/2 stars, but I rounded up to 4 because you can tell someone cared about making the top.12/9/21 update: I had been using it on a hardwood desk I'd built, and when I moved it, I noticed it had left a mark where it had been. This is from the top part of the clamp with the rubber foot on it, so I'm not sure why it left this mark. Just a heads-up in case you are using it on a table you care about.
