A whole lotta binocular for the price.
It really is a lot of binocular for the price, and best of all, each and every function designed into it works as it ought to. So, they are not light, nor are any binoculars worth mentioning. Glass is heavy, quality glass even more so, and these Carson 8x25 VP,s also have a great rubber coating making them feel rock solid in the hand. The ease of focusing is made so with "stand out dials" that are soft, smooth, and fast. One can lidderly adjust both dials with the one hand holding them. The coatings work very well in normal and low light, making for a very clear view. (I was surprised how well in low light!)

Beautiful built, Sharp, Bright and light
My use for these binoculars is for Stargazing. I have several but there was a need for a waterproof and lighter 12x50. I have a Celestron 12x60 but it will not handle the cold pacific north west. I tried these out on a 3/4 moon lit night. I was delighted that the stars/milky way were bright. I was able to focus the stars to points of light, so the view looked sharp. Since the moon was up I was able to test on a bright light. A very slight aura around the moon; however the moon was sharp and clear. The moon does not interest me in lest than a 12x mag. They were light enough and the view was wide enough to easily find things in the sky. The binoculars had a solid feel. Since I recline in a chair to look at the stars a 12x is very easy to use without a tripod. I do not like using a tripod unless it is my Celestron 20x80 that gives dynamic views of the Moon. The price was perfect. I did not want to spend over 175 so I was happy at this price. I heard what the experts say is the best stargazing binoculars. I am in love with my 8x42. Very wide angle, sharp and bright. However the moon is unremarkable and on moon lit nights it does not bring out the stars as much as the 12x50. I highly recommend the Carson Binoculars,

Carson VP 12 x 50
I bought these 12 x 50 for stargazing. They are very easy to focus. The diopter adjustment is very stiff so it stays set with no need for a lock feature. The eye width is also very stiff and stays set. Very clear bright image to the very edge. They are "THE" best binoculars that I have ever owned. Clearer than my 8 x 42 Nikon Monarch 3 that I leave by a window for bird watching. Much easier to focus than my 10 x 42 Redfield Rebels that I use for hunting and they are only slightly bigger/heavier. They are so easy to focus and so bright and so clear they may become my new every thing binoculars. Although the Monarch 3s and the Redfied Rebels are good (both more expensive), it is hard to use either of them after seeing thru these. Very impressed...
