Perfect For Amateur Astronomy
I love this thing...It's sturdy and plenty bright.

Bright and focused
The light is bright enough to see where you are going when walking down a trail but can be set a bit dimmer when desired. It’s focused beam helps ensure you don’t impact the night vision of others when used sparingly at a group stargazing event.

It's very bright
Nothing wrong with the product itself, but it is way too bright for me. I bought it for astronomy and it is just way too bright, even on the dimmer setting. If you want a really bright red light, this is a good option. The strobe is very powerful. If you want a soft red light to see your astronomy equipment and read your maps, there are better options.

If you want this headlamp for visiting a dark spot for astronomy...look for something less bright
I visit Cherry Springs State Park annually and my previous light broke. I bought this to replace it and would not recommend it for that purpose. It is too bright and will disrupt your vision for star viewing and everyone else's, too.
