I dont remember the brand name of my old one and its in the trash but this DecorStar I like a lot better, I've cooked steaks and I like my steak medium-well and they have come out just how I like it and it gives a reading fast. I haven't tried the probe so I can not comment on it, but I highly recommend this .

I have tried many digital meat thermometers s d this one beats them all. For the money it is amazing. I love the pre-programmed meat temps and the option to set a target temp. Highly recommend.

To be honest I bought this because I needed a cheap thermometer with a corded probe. I wasn’t expecting it to be as nice as it is. The only complaints I have are there is no pork temp programed in but it has an adjustable temp feature, so that was wasn’t that big problem. Next was the heat probe shuts off after a few minutes while my food is cooking and I guess that’s fine if you’re concerned about battery life, but when I turn it back on, it will read no change in temp and I have to unplug the cord probe to clear it and plug it back in. Then it reads just fine, it’s weird but I can live with it.Hope this helps.

Love this thing. It has a magnet so I never lose it and I’ve no longer burned meats since I can temperature control everything. Would recommend.

Thermometer died. Tried to change the battery but for some reason the seller thought screwing the battery door shut with a screw that is smaller than any screw I’ve ever seen. So once battery dies you have to buy a new one
