Rikagaku Dustless Chalk, 6-Piece, Green (DCC-6-G)

I bought this chalk to deter ants in the kitchen area. I don’t use chemicals in my kitchen... I make chalk marks (to block the ant’s path) on windows sills and any hard surface where see a few ants walking ... Within a couple of hours the few ants are gone, generally ants will not cross the chalk. I watch the area and if one or two manage to cross (walk in the chalk) I believe the chalk causes confusion and the ants leave and within a day or two, no more stragglers. I’m not sure if the chalk works when there’s a lot of ants already present but definitely works for the few that may be scouting. And I think when the one or two goes back to the nest others are deterred from coming in that direction. I hope this review helps.

Simply amazing product. Draw a circle around the affected area or along the baseboards and they disappear. Once they disappear, lightly wipe up the chalk line so it’s not so visible and they don’t return—at least not for a long time. Cheap and effective. What’s not to love?

I'm no mathematician, so I don't care that much about chalk. However, I do have a terrible chalkboard, and the crayola chalk I was using was scratchy and wouldn't stick to some spots. It was effectively unusable. I bought this chalk and the difference is night and day. It writes smooth and wipes off easy, and there aren't any spots where it doesn't stick. Now the crayola chalk feels like a burnt stick covered in glue and dirt. I haven't tried other brands, and now I probably never will. This stuff is great!

I really like the chalk, but this package has two of the six pieces broken in it. One is just small enough, that it won’t hold in my chalk holder.

I purchased this chalk because I read a review claiming that it was of similar quality to Hagaromo brand chalk. In reality, it falls short even of Crayola.You have to press very hard to get any sort of a mark, and it is then quite difficult to erase.

Wonderful chalk. I bought a very cheap chalk board that is not smooth at all, I'm honestly hesitant to call it a chalk board it might actually be plastic. Anyway, it's hard to write on and erase, I have tried several brands hoping to find something and am super happy to have stumbled across this brand. It writes soooo smooth, even on my bumpy surface. It comes off easily and has made using the chalkboard much easier. Extremely happy with this product and will be buying more when the first set runs down. Also, I noticed some reviewers complaining about broken chalk, mine came whole and since the plastic container the chalk is shipped in is spaced for each individual piece of chalk, I'm gonna assume rough shipping was the cause of their problems and not the chalk being of poor flimsy quality.

Chalk arrived as described, 6 pieces: 4 white, 1 yellow, and 1 pink. Though some reviewers had issues with chalk arriving in pieces, all 6 pieces were unbroken. I've been using this chalk 2x week since the beginning of the winter semester (about 3 months) and I still have 1 white piece, half the yellow, and half the pink left.This chalk is softer than standard chalk, meaning you need to have a lighter hand when using it, else it can break. Writing lightly still results in a highly pigmented and visible mark. In addition, the softer texture means no horrible chalkboard screeching!Also, this chalk doesn't last as long as long as standard chalk, but it is worth it to me to have dustless, screech-free chalk!

Asides from taking a long time to ship, I have really enjoyed this chalk. There is a coating on the outside to prevent your fingers from getting all chalky when holding them and they definitely produce a lot less dust than common brands. I wouldn't say they are dustless, but I have not found anything better.

These chalk sticks are a little shorter than standard chalk, but the chalk is one of the better Japanese chalks around ... and unlike most that become idiotically expensive by the time they get over here, these are relatively affordable. For professional mathematicians who work the chalkboard these are are certainly an improvement over most "dustless" chalk.
