Are they good for sports? Like soccer?

Oh...Great for sports...I have did some mud runs and with all the mud stuck to my hair and the hair tie...not even once did i have to adjust or tighten my hair. I also have played basketball in them...they are great.

Are these made in USA?

The material is manufactured in China but the bands are inspected for quality and packaged in the USA.

anyone used these to tie out a tarp?

Not a good idea. These are stretchy fabric hair ties and never meant to use with a tarp - you use a bungee cord to secure a tarp...seriously?
