Great sound; friendly price.
I have been a big fan of lypertek, and owned their PurePlay Z3, from when they were being marketed as just the 'Tevi'. These SoundFree S20 are the little-brothers of the lineup, but given that the Z3/Tevi have been out for longer, and are on offer, they are available currently for roughly the same price.I have been using the Z3/Tevi as my go-to wireless earbud for some while now, and they have had more listening time than almost any of my other headphone gear, as they are just so useful. The S20's are possibly going to be replacing these, if they can out-compete their older siblings.Opening the box, it’s a fairly no-frills affair. Basic cut-foam packaging around the buds themselves and the case, a USB C cable for charging, and couple of baggies of tips. The cable is nice and short, some might be annoyed at the short length, but it works perfectly for me. The tip selection is good, with 3 sizes of nice soft rubber, and 3 sizes of bi-flange. I have been using the foam tips with the Z3/Tevi (not supplied with these), mainly for comfort, but settled on the small bi-flange for these. They feel perfectly secure in my ears, and isolation is very good. The tips from the Z3/tevi do fit the S20’s, but the seating ring is slightly smaller, and so they are looser. I didn’t try the foams on the S20’s for fear of losing one in my ear. That said, I haven’t felt the need to swap the bi-flange ones out at all, so no big deal. The next big difference between the two earbuds is the newer shape. Theright and left buds of the Z3/tevi are essentially identical to one another, with basically only the little R or L decal to tell them apart. Never a huge problem, but if I took them out briefly without going back into a case, it was possible to swap them over. The S20’s have a more ‘handed’ design, sweeps into the ear more naturally. I never had an issue with comfort on the Tevi, but these are a definite improvement. They feel very secure in the ear, and don’t feel like they are moving anywhere. The body shape and tips together combine to give a package that provides really nice isolation from outside sounds. My most regular use for the Tevi's has been to block out the supermarket noise on my weekly shop, and the S20's do an equally perfect job here. This is partly the sonic isolation, but also the robust bluetooth pairing, meaning they are as easy as shove-in-your-ears-and-forget. No issues with pairing (which is even simpler than the Tevi's were) and usually they are connected and ready before they get to my ears, so I even miss the calming voice saying 'pairing' and then 'connected'. Useability is so important for a portable earphone, and these have this in spades. The button placement is also different. Rather than being the whole ‘back’ panel of the buds, it’s a little button on top. The button looks beautiful; a little textured thing in milled aluminium, but functionality wise I can see no difference. It works to pause and skip tracks, and do volume in a pinch. My finger tends to naturally hit it if I’m taking them out of my ear, BUT if I’m taking them out, I probably want to pause what’s playing anyway, so this is no bad thing. Visually, both in and out of the ear, they are very nice. The case is a big departure from the Tevi. I really liked the textured fabric look of the Tevi case, and it’s larger size was never an issue for me. The S20 case is a bit more ergonomic, smaller and shaped to be a little more pocket friendly. The tiny recessed LED lights are really nice and subtle, with quite a small viewing angle, meaning that you can see the information from them you need, without them lighting up the room if you don't. The body of the case itself doesn’t feel extremely robust and inspiring of huge confidence, however, so I am wary about just throwing it wholesale into a pocket, but I haven’t had any issue with it. The wireless charging is a nice feature, but not one that looks like it’d fit too much into my routine, if I were having to charge these up every night (seems unlikely, as battery life is great!) then it might be a different story, and it’s nice to have as an extra. The earbuds themselves nestle easily into the charging case, held in place by magnets which reliably grab them and hold them onto the charging pins. Again, something I have had no issues with at all, seems to work great. One new feature of the s20’s is the ambient sound mode, which allows you to activate the microphones and play in some audio from the real world, enabling you to have a conversation without removing them. This does not do much for me. Maybe I’m just an old fogey, but not removing my earbuds when having a conversation with somebody seems rude to the point of sticking my middle finger up. That, and it didn’t seem to be all that much louder than just the ambient bleed-through. ALso on the 'ambient' part of sound. The 'background' noise from these IEM's is not zero. There is a very quiet 'ticking' of something that sounds like processor noise when no music is playing. This stops after a few seconds of no music being sent, and obviously is immediately camouflaged when music plays, but if you are somebody who wants to leave these in as earplugs with nothing playing (for some reason), it's worth noting. The drivers on the s20 are a standard dynamic, rather than a graphene on the Tevi, but despite nominally being a downgrade, to my ears they do the job admirably. The sound signature is seems very much tuned to be fun, with a real bass emphasis. Listening to bass-heavy music gave a really visceral hit on the bass end, without being ‘one-note’ at all. I’m more of an acoustic listener, but for bass driven stuff these are supremely good fun. A track like "house rules" from Hyde Park Brass was particularly enjoyable.Midrange is nice and satisfying on these, with vocals rendered very nicely. When listening at home to get an impression of the sound, I really enjoyed "hide and seek" from Imogen Heap, with the S20's giving a really satisfying rendering of the complex multi-tracked and distorted vocals. On the same track, the detail retrieval of these little buds was also very much in evidence, with the sounds of rain falling in the background of the recording session were very clearly audible, being very easy to miss if you aren't payng attention.High frequency is somethign I am quite sensitive to, and in particular any sybillance to the sound is quite offputting to me. Whilst these definitely feel a little more 'closed-in' and 'headphoney' than 'open and airy', there was nothing about the high end that gave nme any cause for concern. A nicely rounded performance.Overall, I can find little if anything to fault about these capable little buds, especially for the price. I wouldn't hesitate to reccomend these to anybody in the market for a wireless IEM.

Perfected ergonomics with detailed engaging multi layered sound and enough in the lower registers
Ergonomics take into account the need for movement throughout the day, and for my working day, which for the most part nowadays is walking around outside with the dog these Lyperteks are just perfect for me and a great improvement on the previous model they're replacing!Ergonomically the new button is lovely and tactile, its placement just works, with a nice communicative click that doesn't have you readjusting the earphone position in your ear canal afterwards each time! Plus it always actually seems to now do what you want it to do at the time every time. For everyday use this little design upgrade makes all the difference for me and is very welcome. For ease of use these must now be up there with those ubiquitous white thingies from that large american computer manufacturer. They have also improved the bluetooth connection process... it's all just connecting now for me automatically every time without hassle - no faffing about turning bluetooth on and off and waiting for the soft and gentle voice to tell you it's been "connected" on the previous model - the informational voice alerting you of connection has now changed perhaps indicating that Tevi have put a lot of work into these behind the hood UI tweaks. They've also changed the sizing and shape of them, they stick out less obtrusively now from your ears and just stay comfortably put! This along with the more pocket friendly sized charging case are nice adaptations which just make everyday use a breeze. The sound is similar to the previous model, excellent. Layered detail is there and there is enough bass too for my needs whilst out and about with Fido. I mainly listen to the radio on it from speech based radio sources like LBC or the Beeb. Reproduction of speech to my ears it is just ideal in between eclectic music choices from Qobuz... full orchestral music I found was nicely reproduced too.The eartip choice they provide is good, a nice selection of sizes and including the double flange type which work best for my ears i've found. A nice touch. If you're after a pair of in ear bluetooth's that sound great and work easily and comfortably... these are simply just amazing value and a highly recommended choice by me!

Another winner from Lypertek
I purchased the S20 for general, every day use. I previously owned the Lypertek Tevi and was very happy with the sound and build quality. The S20 definitely has a different sound to the Tevi, with a bit more bass. After a few hours with them, I am very happy with how punchy they are, and rock, pop and dance music all sounds rich and clear. They also appear to have made a couple of quality-of-life improvements vs the Tevis. The carrying case is smaller (and more suited to slipping into the pocket of your jeans), its allows for wireless charging and feels generally more ergonomic. Another great addition is the dual buttons. These allow for greater control of your music via the earphones and they feel more substantial than the ones on the Tevi.In summary, I love the S20. If you are looking for something that is easy to use, sounds great with a wide range of music and gives a comfortable, snug fit, the S20s are the earphones for you.
