New or veteran puppy owners will find this book useful for the step-by-step guidance
As a veteran dog owner adopting a six-month-old Labradoodle was not as easy as I remember! Then I discovered Sam Quinn and the puppy books! I started with Dog Training 101 for a refresher in dealing with a young dog. What great forehead-slapping information there was in the reading of that book. Now, Sam has published an equally easy-to-follow puppy training from young to a year and older in The Positive Puppy.Sam has provided not only great step-by-step guidance from the time we bring our young charges into our home and family with “rules” and worksheets. Starting off there is a “where should I put the crate or other sleeping arrangements”. How to be consistent with yard play area and designated area for doing their ‘business”. If we didn’t potty train our children in a week, how can we expect to have a young dog remember where the correct areas (yard) and not correct areas ( in the house) are to have their potty breaks.Along with the yard times, Sam goes through leash training, introducing your puppy to the family and other family pets, and when to start classes. Week by week of the puppy’s growth Sam has a chapter so that each chapter has an age range and goals to reach for. From the introduction of getting the necessary items for your fur friend and then growth weeks of 8-9, 9-10, 11-12 (which is the one-month goal and then moving on to manners, teething issues, leash pulling, digging, and more. A great “bonus” was the worksheet that is an “extra” for buying the book. I am using it now with my 10-month-old as he had come with bad habits at adoption at 6 months, and now I have a great check-the-box worksheet to use and review. With that alone, I can move towards a great Canine Citizen! If you are a veteran dog owner or first-timer, the books written by Sam are easy to understand and guide us through the early years of our dogs!

Practical for both newbie and veteran dog parents
As a lifelong animal lover (and particularly dog fancier and former pet sitter), I should know the basics of dog training, but I definitely have gaps in knowledge, which this book fills. It just so happens that I plan to get a puppy at some point after having had adult dogs for years, so this book comes in handy. This easy-to-digest, easy-to-follow, and solidly structured instructional book shows that anyone can learn how to train a puppy. Sure, it requires discipline, regularity, and commitment, but you don't need to be Cesar Millan to get the job done. All you have to remember are the simple keys to training success: doing things in baby (er, puppy) steps, repetition, and consistency. Lather, rinse, repeat. This otherwise pawesome book, however, has typical self-publishing pitfalls—errors and inconsistencies in grammar (the usual 𝘭𝘪𝘦 vs. 𝘭𝘢𝘺 confusion), spelling variants and punctuation (the mixed-up US and UK conventions), and subhead formatting. These are distracting and take away the enjoyment of reading. Sam isn't to blame, but it would behoove indie authors in general to hire real, qualified professionals (𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘩 editors and proofreaders) to make their books the best they can be to compete with the big dogs in traditional publishing. Just like consistency in dog training, consistency is important in publishing.

A real training plan!
I absolutely adore the way this author broke dog training up into bite size pieces. Though my dog is no longer a puppy, she's 2 years old, this has been incredibly helpful.Everything is broken down into weekly sessions. There are frequently asked questions. There is a fun and helpful Facebook group. There are fantastic references with hyperlinks at the back of the book for more information. There is a summary that brings everything together. If you've got a dog, I recommend this book. What a great reference! I know for sure I'll be looking at it over and over again. Plus, this is going to come in handy when I'm training my dogs how to manage themselves on a boat. It couldn't have come in a better time.My favorite quote from the book:"Potty training, crate training, and boundaries are fundamental building blocks to making the house a more comfortable place for your puppy."

I wish I had this book the first time I raised a puppy!
The Positive Puppy Training Blueprint is the book I wish that I had the first time I raised a puppy. Each of the key steps is presented clearly and in a way that is entertaining without ever being condescending. Though I live with an adult dog, quite set in her ways--and I couldn’t conceive ever having to train a puppy again--having read this book, it just doesn’t seem as daunting. Especially since I now see that it’s not just about training the dog—but, it’s also about training yourself, the owner! It covers every imaginable question or topic about raising a new dog! Along the way, the tips and tricks you learn—some obvious, but some of them simple-but-revelatory—will make you recommend this book, as I do, to anyone even considering getting a new puppy! It is the totally essential guidebook that should be required reading for anyone who interacts with dogs.

Great Guide for any First Time puppy owner
I am a first-time puppy owner. Our last dog was a year old when we adopted him, because I wanted to skip the puppy stage. When it came time to decide on our next dog, I really wanted to start with a puppy to experience that early bonding period. I was nervous, since I had never lived with a puppy. I found this book and I LOVE it. I can follow it week by week and focus on weekly goals. I really like the focus on Positive Training tips, as I didn't want a fearful or aggressive dog. My family has been reading the book with me and it's a great way to keep us all on the same page so training and reinforcement of rules and behaviors Stat consistant.

Good book
This is a good book for the first time puppy owner who knows nothing. Very helpful planner for week by week expectations. Easy to understand. Not much new there for those who know dogs.

Great and easy read for new puppy/dog owners!
I am a first time puppy owner and this book has helped me a lot, and probably will for the first year of puppyhood and possibly beyond. I originally joined the Facebook group ran by the author without knowing about the book. I was asking a bunch of questions about training and life with my new pup. The author quickly gave me some advice and then mentioned their book. Their response to my questions were very thought-out and helpful. Maybe a week and a half into having my pup I quickly realized that I had A TON more questions (even though I thought I did enough research before getting my girl) and made the decision to go ahead and purchase the book, and I am so glad I did! It is very easy to follow and there are step by step instructions. Another thing I love about it is that it taps into the point of view of the dog - what they want and need from us as their owners. Prior to making the purchase, I was having a hard time deciding on a training book to get and I'm happy that I went with this one. Not only do you get this book, you will have the Facebook group to interact with the author (who is super responsive), but you also get to connect with other pup/dog owners. I highly recommend it!

You owe it to your puppy to read this.
I'm confident with dogs, it comes naturally to me, they have always been in the family and I grew up with them. The reason I bought this book is a) I don't know everything and b) whilst I'm confident with 'dogs', I knew 'puppies' are a different ball game. Before buying a puppy I feel that as their humans we have a responsibility to educate ourselves about what is best for them. I mean, you don't just jump in a car and drive do you? You have to take a test first and learn how to drive properly to avoid a serious accident.I see this book as a must read for any prospective puppy owner. It's informative, well laid out, detailed and structured week by week and can be used as a companion guide or indeed you can read the lot before you even buy your pup. I learnt a great deal from this title. It put my mind at ease about so many things especially crate training. The author has done a fabulous job and I congratulate him on what is almost a public service! Bravo!

Build Confidence with your puppy
I hope I had read this amazing puppy training book sooner! It's a fun book with lots of easy, and step-by-step guide to training your puppy. It even comes with a gift and an invitation to an incredible puppy owners' online community. And aside from the golden nuggets of advices, I especially love the inside look of the book as it's not often I get to read kindle books with pictures in it 😁

Wow! LOVE this book!
As a prospective first time puppy owner, in preparation for welcoming a new puppy into our home, I have been reading as many books as I can. This book definitely stands out as being a great step-by-step guide to positively training your dog whilst just as importantly, building a strong, loving bond. The advice is really practical and broken down into chunks so it’s so easy to understand and follow. I can’t wait to put all the advice and tips into practice and I’m sure I’ll be dipping into this book time and time again. Another added bonus is that the author also has a Facebook group where any questions are promptly answered and it also gives an opportunity to connect with other dog owners. Can’t recommend this book highly enough!
