The high road to Scotland...
This latest DK Eyewitness Guide is an excellent one-stop resource for planning a vacation in Scotland. It offers a terrific combination of pictures, maps, facts and commentary, more than enough to allow the visitor to find not only the major tourist attractions but also some of the unique places and events off the beaten path that may be even more worthwhile as destinations. This Eyewitness Guide includes a nice history of Scotland, up to and including the most recent debate over devolution, as well as practical information on travel, customs, money, safety, and climate. There are some good tips on what to eat and what to get as uniquely Scottish souvenirs. The cut-away sketches and diagrams of castles and other historical sites will increase the visitor's appreciation of some wonderfully interesting venues, such as the castles at Edinburgh and Sterling. The guide even manages to work in a few tips on where to hike. This reviewer and his wife have found previous editions of this guide, supplemented by local maps and the websites listed in the guide, to be entirely adequate to plan and enjoy weeks in the beautiful Scottish Highlands. "DK Eyewitness Travel Guide: Scotland" is very highly recommended.

Highland Recommended!
I bought the first edition of this book back in 1999 and figuring a few things may have changed in the ensuing 20 years, I got this version for our trip this year. Both editions have been great. I'll focus on the newer one: It lays everything out and lets you pick and choose. If you aren't sure what to do, it has plenty of ideas and potential itineraries. Most useful for us was the zoomed-in street views of the major cities. There are also plenty of pictures and explanations of things to see and do so you can pick and choose. There is SO much to do in Scotland. Don't miss anything!

So helpful for trip planning
I really like the DK Eyewitness travel series. I have about 8-10 for other countries and cities and they are all well used. The books not only provide some historical background of the destination, but great photos and tons of useful information. There are little known facts provided about many touristy sites and that makes the trip all that much more interesting. There are helpful maps included and plenty of general information including where to stay, what to eat, goods/gifts specific to the area. In s world where so much research can be done on the Internet, I still buy one of these guides and take it with me when I go!

Another in a great series of travel books
I like this travel series and purchased this guide to Scotland for an upcoming trip there. The graphics are so interesting and the information is as well.

Excellent travel guide.
I love this collection's travel guides. They are very complete, easy to follow, and include enough information to help you plan for the trip. The only limitation of this one is that the larger map of Scotland is pretty poor, certainly due to trying to fit the whole country in a double page of this edition: why not a fold out?

but I really like the way it's organized
Haven't had time to get deeply into this, but I really like the way it's organized. It has a lot of colored pictures and illustrations and is compact enough to slip into a small handbag. I think it's going to be very helpful.

I like the “Must See” suggestions on each area.
This book has great info in it. We’re heading to Scotland in 4 weeks and this will help us decide what to see and what to see later (I can already tell we’ll need to visit this country again!!

Paperback not bad idea
DK Eyewitnesses travel books are good quality. I owned over 50 books from them, all totally helpful and delight to read. This is just another one to add to my collection. I always bring them along on all my journeys around the globe. I will use this book to plan a trip to Scotland after COVID 19 pandemic is over.I’ve used other series of travel books but DK series is the best suits me.

Not practical
The book has many photos and looks appealing, but when I started reading it to prepare for my trip to Scotland, it was quite useless. It is too generalised and very badly organised, chaotic, scattered information some page references do not match. In short, a sloppy and practically useless work. I ended up using some other publications.

Visit Scotland
Es una guía bastante completa, echo de menos algo de información sobre actividades con niños y deportivas. Las fotos son muy buenas.
