This book is a compendium of all 60 plates in the 1897 volume of M.P. Verneuil's lithograph portfolio. The plates are in the design style that we now call Art Nouveau. The mostly classical drawings are fluid and sinuous renditions of a variety of animals, such as birds, mammals, water life, and bugs. They're painted in earthy shades of green, yellow, and brown, plus ochre gold, burnt sienna, mellow orange, raw umber, gray, and light blue. The only script is a brief introduction placing the volume in historical context. If you like this sryle, which I do, you will like this book. Furthermore, you can use the designs in your own work as this, and most of these types of books by Dover Publications, is copy-right free. Dover has a lot of books in this as well as other design styles, and is a great source for drawing and painting techniques, classical art, fine art, and craft books. If you buy the older books before the coloring book craze, such as this one from 1992, you can get almost any well-known artist you want at a great deal

Wonderful sourse of animalistic art nouveau, suitable for any design ideas

I have several books and this one is great. Better than the others that have more or less the same thing just drawn slightly different.

This is an excellent book containing many different art nouveau animal patterns. The paper used is excellent. All the patterns contain a rich blend of color and the designs are wonderful.

アールヌーボーの時代のデザインやパターンが掲載されています。全頁オールフルカラーです。動物や植物モチーフのものばかりで、タイトルにDESIGNS AND PATTERNSと書かれている通り壁紙パターンだけではなく、置物のデザイン画のようなものや櫛の飾り部分のデザインなどもいくつか掲載されています。アールヌーボーの時代のデザインを勉強されている方やその時代がお好きな方、こういったデザインプレートを収集されている方などに良いのではないでしょうか。

Réédition d'un ouvrage ancien. Qualité de reproduction (des couleurs notamment) assez médiocre et dos piqué donc utile pour de la documentation mais pas un "beau livre".
