Q: my table is 42”wide with a 3” side. Will this cloth be too big?

Our table also has a 3” drop and is 42”.... table cover fits perfect, not too big at all! Love these covers, we have 3 different ones Hope this helps

NO! Table cloths are just vinyl so you must use a trivet or hot pad when setting hot dishes on this table cloth. Even with the tablecloth on I still use placemats all the time.

Q: is it textured or smooth? I want to use them for art table but texture would make it hard to clean paint and oil pastels off if it's not smooth.

It is smooth. But I would not use for that. Had a spot of spaghetti sauce that I have not been able to get out. So not sure paints would be much better. Seems to stain easily.
